Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

Crazy...I thought I was the only one that has thought of this. I told my other buddies about it a couple of years back and they were all like, "that would be pretty cool" I looked into doing it through the tranny, and as crazy as it sounds, the mountain bike d-railer concept. But when it came to making it happen, I found that doing it through the tranny was to expensive and making a d-railer could have drastic consequences.

But hey, you got my vote.

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

the idea is good but in my opinion and i wrench on **** all the time, who is going to drop their motor and split the cases just to install that gear.........plus on 636's you dont even need that much gearing to kill lots anyway making them plenty streetable and i dont know to many dedicated mainly parking lot stunters who ride their stunt pieces on the highway to work everyday

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

like a few ppl have said , ive thought about this and ran into way too many issues , plus having another trans made , then heat treated and harden d would cost way too much to make it feasible . also alot of ppl wouldnt want to split the cases to swap transmissions ...... good luck , ive pretty much bailed on the idea

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

I'm not trying to go to market with it... if I can find a way to make it and make it work, I would be willing to go through the expense for myself to have it on my own personal bike and be willing to duplicate it for others for little profit. Definitely not planning to mass produce it but if it were possible for cheap I would possibly keep some on hand for people

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

awesome idea but even if you were able to make it work and there are guys that want it on thier bike, i think very few would actually do it. most guys just get another motor if second gear goes out so i dont see peeps actually spending the time and money cracking the case on an engine that gets as abused as a stuntbike does to have to do it all over again when it pops. i could see the posers that have money and minty stunt parts but cant even ride a wheelie doing it to thier bike though.

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

Got my vote, Definately the longer 5th and 6th though. as stated 1,000,000 times already, the 1st gear is almost un-workable if not completely. If its somethin that comes through for you...Im definately down to get some gears! this 52 is killin my cruisin Rev's....

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

if you are paying a shop to replace the gears for you looking at around 6 to 8 hours labor (can vary) at $65 to $125 per hour labor. you do the math.

That's what I'm saying! You don't have to be the fastest in the group, just not the slowest

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

i think an easier way than swapping gears is to just add a 7 gear...or liike an overdrive.....

Re: Any interest in "stunt" transmission gears?

I would buy it.. if it was proven SOLID

I dont think stunters are as broke as most people think they are... its just the fact that were always buying bike parts... And drugs... And booze... and hookers... So we try to pinch pennies in other areas.... Therefore giving us the persona of being cheap as a whole

I dont do drugs or hookers so i can afford a longer sixth gear...

Not really, but i would find a way to buy it... Just like I will with convertibars! As long as it costs less than convertibars... it will sell good (that goes for all bike parts)
