Socialized MediCare Anyone?

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
+1 My company pays my insurance 100%, and everything stated above is the truth, i'm happy to live in a city with one of the best medical centers in the world, but if i went to the emergency room i would be stuck behind a line of 45 people with no insurance or green card who get free care for any possible ailment, and who footin the bill, people who actually pay taxes.

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
I'm tired of seeing posts on SL for stunters that have no health insurance and broke their femur or something incurring 10s of thousands of dollars in debt. I like the idea of universal coverage. I'm willing to pay more in taxes so that i don't see anymore stunters or anyone else for that matter have to go bankrupt because they are sick or injured. As far as the other stuff i don't give a ****. We need to change what we have now.

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
I would be for UHC if it was a last resort. First america needs to stop being a nation of fat slobs, our diets and lifestyles are made for breeding cancers, heart conditions etc ... Maybe if everyone ate right and exercised and didn't smoke and we actuially had a health information system that worked we wouldn't be in the situation we are in ...

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
Anyone remember that great system the government set up to make sure everyone had retirement? Social Security? We are all still paying for that but when does that go bankrupt again and we will never see a dime from it. Sorry in theory UHC is a great idea but when everyone in the government is looking out for themselves instead of us, its only a matter of time before we get screwed over again and pay for something we will never use

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
UHC would provide a system like the one in Canada
" Well sir your over 60 so we need to use this dialysis money for this pregnant lady over here, you've had a pretty good life right?"

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
My wife works with people that are on welfare and get their insurance through the state. Almost all of them will go to the emergency room for a cold and have to pay nothing out of pocket. When I crushed my hand in a wood splitter I had to pay a $200 co-pay for using the emergency room and not being admitted.

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
our emergency rooms are crowded with people that dont have a real emergency because they cant go in a doctors office, they know the gov will pay the bill in an emergency room because they cannot be refused service, its part of the problem with our system, its why if i wanted to add my wife and kid to my insurance it would be 1100$ a month. Insurance companies are having to compensate for uninsured by having outrageous rates

Way to prove your point.

Re: Socialized MediCare Anyone?
I advocate it because it has proven to be a great system in many countries, and even solves many of the problems people in this very thread who are blindly against it are complaining about.
Let's review:
Pros:
A. It'll cost you less individually and require less taxes.
B. Everyone in our country will be covered.
C. It will clean up our emergency rooms.
D. It'll help remove the current government bureaucracy caused by MediCare, Medicaid and state run insurance programs.
Cons:
A. Doctors will be paid less.
B. You'll have one less reason to be racist.
I know the racist part sort of blows, but other than that it sounds (and has been proven by many countries) to be pretty nice.
