Coasters???

Coasters???
This is my problem... I've been stunting now for about 6 months and just about everthing i have tried so far i've been able to do except coasters. Last night i was out with a buddy at the spot and he was telling me that i should try some.. So i did, again, and like all the other times failed miserably. I get choppy when i get close to balance or when i do get into the rear brake i seem to hammer down on it, resulting in a big mouse trapp, rather than feather it like i know i should... Just looking for some tips on learning them.

Re: Coasters???
theres no trick to em really, practice makes perfect. Just gotta work on being as smooth as you can on the throttle when you bring the wheelie up, let it slowly come up while picking up speed. You cannot chop the throttle for coasters, it can seriously **** you up
I was a ***** and didnt want to do em because I was too hard on the brakes the first time and almost went over the front end after slamming down. One night I went for them and after 3 hours of practice I was like "damn what was so hard about that?!?"

Re: Coasters???
**** SS Coasters. I cant get them ***** at all. Every time I try I usually mousetrap and almost get tossed over the bars. I havent been over yet from that but came close a few times yesterday.
MikeM told me with regular coasters to do idle wheelies at first and pull the clutch in for a second to get used to what it feels like with the bike floating for a second. I started with doing that and then did like Beto said and come up slowly into the wheelie while picking up speed. You'll get them. If you got everything else youve tried its only a matter of time.

Re: Coasters???
+1 on the mousetrap,my *** went flyin off the seat and hit my nuts on the tank on my first sitdown coaster attempt, like they said, I clutch it up to where you can still see over the bars and chase it to gain speed, when your fast enough, just slowly roll the throttle to get just behind BP,and pull in the clutch, and finess the brake, coasters are soooooooo fun,to bad the longest i've gone is bout 200ft.but even the lil ones are still fun

ah yes thats perfect advice forgot about that, thats how I started out the day that I got them. Roll in first gear idle and slip the clutch in to get a feel of how the bike should float
and SS coasters are the funnest type to me, you get to adjust your body weight alot more than in a regular staggard coaster....but whats weird to me is that my longest ones are sitdown coasters, those bitches are so easy

Re: Coasters???
learning on a bike with alot of suspension is the best way like a supermoto or even a four wheeler so that way you can mouse trap and not get chucked over the front of the bike and it's alot less wear and tear on the bike , mouse traps from coasters have ended the life of alot of frames..lol

+100000 on the mousetrapping!... Its pretty hard to clutch out and catch it when you come ahead of bp.... been working on short ones lately, ive been holding a steady speed staggerd and giving it a little blip to get behind bp, coasting a bit and trying not to mousetrap.

Re: Coasters???
im around the hundred ft on coasters.... no toe brake so im using the hb
i found one thing that helps is not having to pull the clutch lever to the bar, having it engage with less movenet.....saved me a lot of times bc i could just slip it out...what body position are you in? i found fis or flamingo is most comfetarable for me at least
and i agree with da liks stock gearing lets me get a lot of speed up.......
i stay below bp and chase it to get up to speed, then i just blip it a little and engage the clutch....

Re: Coasters???
LOL Im glad I didnt. I had one where I coasted and revved the motor like 3x. I think I gotta stop doing that though while learning but I rev it so I could be like yo - you see that SS coaster

Re: Coasters???
I gotsta try staggered coasters - I usually do FIB coasters. Started working on my SD coasters but Im actually just starting to get comfy with my SD's in general so they're up there on the list of things to do. I just wanna learn SS coasters so I could rock 2nd gear SS coasters on the street
