Re: hypothetical idea to kick around

screw it its worth a shot but people are right its gonna be a long road...I like the beverage/food idea for starters but geting inspected and getting permits will suck and be costly and if you dont do it have a plate and a beer ready for the irs investigator. But the "Mandatory" donation would be nice for a weekend of shooting or just a daily rate to people but remember man we are stunters and 93.7837% of us are broke and living paycheck to paycheck/ part to parts you know? So be reasonable.
As for the girl...she smart and if this was her idea than you need to not spend so much money now and have a good college tuition aranged for her... not to but a "set" in your backyard.lol
But it is a good idea and would be great for locals and im sure you would get what the locals could hand out for "donations" but remember WERE BROKE!!!

I think you are putting the cart in front of the horse on this one. Dream big, start small.

The guys who built our house are related to her dad, the guy who does paving in our area, Bubby, his daughter works for my husband, and the Lowes thing I think she's going to cold call them.

it's all not gangster, maybe it sounds like it in the city, but think "hick town" where everyone knows everyone. She's just got the ***** to call people we're barely associated with, so she can try.

Re: hypothetical idea to kick around

She's already saying it sounds too involved and we'll probably plant berries we like on her half of it instead, but it was a very cool idea.

Christian is pitching a man made pond to stock with bass, which we also can't afford and won't happen. lol poor kids, I'm wrecking their summer.

we both thought the "estimate" we'd gotten was just a product of early drug abuse on my friend's part, but with all the responses, it does look like too much money.

I'm going to hand it to her, she has good ideas and knows how to put them in the proper format. Plus she knows when to approach someone with an idea.

All points to the good, and good to know on the gravel dig in, etc. You just never know.

Thanks for the input, you probably saved me a lot of driving a frustrated kid around to hassle people.

I'd have done it, though. We're cool like that.

good points, and if either one of the kids or I came across a substantial cash windfall we'd probably be down to put a lot on the property.

it's just sitting there making dandelions.

The college tuition fund is wrapped up in an account no one will touch for another eight years or so. we're not playing with money, we're playing with 2 acres that failed the perk test for building but already has power and it has a spigot running to it from the well next door which was previously ours.

Re: hypothetical idea to kick around

Its been put out there 100 times..but when it comes down to it,land, paving, insurance and all the costs involved are HUGE. and its a known fact, stunters pockets are not huge. we would rather ride in a lot that wont cost any money,or just ride the streets where the real fun is at...Im gonna be like American Idol and give this one a no.

The kid is effective, we started businesses at the same time and she was profitable before I was. to date has also made more money, so when she has a plan, I pay attention. It usually happens. these results things are amazing. Who knew?

it's not a competition. I was showing her how it's done.

Anyhow, she wants to get a friend of ours who gets most of the local roadwork contracts to come down and pave it. She wants a builder friend of ours to hook her up with some roll away walls, a graffitti wall, a couple of home interiors, city streets, etc, and she wants to get Lowes or any other home improvement store to kick her a building for storage. property already has power, phone and water IIRC. If not, it's close, and we know those people too. It's a small town.

She wants to make a stunt dvd film set. The only thing we can't recreate is a freeway but you know where to find those.

She's just a little kid and only has the summer to really apply herself to the project, but she has my full support. I'll try not to **** her up too bad. haha

She has a lot of resources, but can't dip into a future inheritance to fund a present project so she's going to have to get creative. And she planned for that.

When she pitched this idea, she had great notes, and it's not a bad plan, it could work.

It'd be sweet for riders to have a spot to practice where they don't get fucked with, and the roll away walls are genius. The kid's a freakin genius.
I'm sure she'd charge to film there, because she's all about money, but she'll also put the effort into it if she thinks it could be a good cash generator.

Assuming she can pull this off, which is a huge long shot, it's just an idea, do you think people would come off a hundred bucks or whatever to film there for a weekend?

ok. that's enough questions out of me. Thanks in advance. FO in advance to the haters.

OH, and Bmore people, Sierra and I wil be at Hopkins on the 14th, all freakin day. Hit me up if you want to check out her project folders, photos etc. I'll be in surgery, but I'll let my mom know Sierra is expecting friends to stop in. got a brain tumor.

She most needs advice on what paving to use, her future sponsor will surely pitch the cheapest on Earth, she wants to come back with the exact stuff her clients will want to ride on. TIA, see ya later.

why do I have a feeling Scott just won a bet?

Oh, and I'm planning on getting tourettes pretty soon, so ****** watch out. hehe

to much reading sorry....

Re: hypothetical idea to kick around

it was a lot of words. I get excited. Just that she'd have an idea that's so large scale and put some work into even asking me if she could try makes me super happy.

I appreciate the repsonses, and Sierra said she appreciates the encouragement. She's a little disappointed right now, thinking it probably won't work, but hasn't 100% given up on the idea.

I think she just wants a parking lot with a wall she can spray paint on.

You said "my kids", so that means on more than one occasion someone was at a low enough point in their life to **** you. Pathetic

Re: hypothetical idea to kick around

dont waste your time or your money on building a stuntpark. theres too many part time undedicated stuntriders out there and the common uptight society thinks of stuntriding as a crime worse than murder. there have been numerous threads just like this before and believe me the sport is going nowhere so may as well not bother.

Yeah, I think this is true. It was a cool idea though. Thanks for the input all.

Where at in So. MD? I live in La Plata, so I'm just curious as to where it is you're talking about.

St. Marys County, and pretty far south in it. Right next to a fire dept, rescue squad, and the annual Ridge Carnival.

Sierra has decided it can't hurt to try, so I will take her around to her little list of businesses, and see if she can get some support.

We're revising the idea to reflect the realities you guys put out there.

the movie set idea is out, a spot where people can practice for free is in, now it's not business it's recreation, but the idea still will need to be underwritten to work.

I think it's probably too much to take on, but I admire her for being willing to take risks, and the stuff she learns will make her a better negotiator.
