Re: **** LeoVince....
Ok, don't take this the wrong way. Please read into it before you think I'm just arguing to do so because I'm not.
MotoGP is the premier racing format for motorcycling in my and many others opinion. The fans of the sport are expecting excellence on motorcycles. So within reason it would be best to showcase the best freestyle riders possible. So if it was to be a contest I believe it should be an XDL event, just like Indy. And the last thing XDL is would be considered a no handed circle competition.
More information about the event, Ernie and I have been scheduled to ride our Hypermotards at the event for months, Bill on his Yamaha, and from what I understand Teach on his BMW. The original idea was going to be a factory battle. Now it's factory demonstrations with SBF doing something, what I have no idea.
Most important fact of all, what draws people back is recognition and feeling a relationship with the riders. Just like when people come to MotoGP they already have a rider they want to win. By formatting an open/armature comp all it would have done is perpetuated the idea we're not a developed sport and rather a bunch of guys who ride for fun/free and don't need to be taken seriously. And a lot of us are out there working hard for the sport to be taken seriously.

Only thing is.......without SBF.....you wouldn't be riding at all. There was NO sponsor for the stunt section UNTIL SBF seeked out LeoVince, which promptly took over the event, and cancelled the competition format SBF was going to run.
Also.....I NEVER said XDL was a no-handed standup circle competition. I said a three day show of pros doing whatever they want, whenever they want would turn into a no-handed circle comp. I witnessed it first-hand at Infineon......During free-ride....one pro would do some no-handed o's, then almost every other pro that could do'em was out there trying within the next few minutes. I know how it is.....you get the idea to try something you mighta kinda forgot about until you see someone else try, then you wanna try. Gotta remember, Nick......the average person is much more impressed by a Chainsaw. If your goal is to keep the peoples interest....you best be doin a BUNCH of squidlly tricks, cause we all know those are the crowd favs!
As for the last paragraph.......that's undertandable, BUT you guys AREN'T having a structured event. You guys are going to be throwing off that "not to be taken seriouslly" vibe by NOT having a competition, and just riding at your own pace for "fun".
WITH a competition....you WOULD possibly be having return stunt fans looking for their favorite rider to win next year......but no.....no comp.
If you are REALLY working toward the goal of the sport being taken seriouslly......you'ld push HARD for this event to become a full blown competition. It's the biggest moto event on the west coast.....it would become as big as Stuntwars w/in a couple years, garaunteed.
Re: **** LeoVince....
So......newer guys like me are now out of the event, and its going to be the same group of pros that it always is. IMO, its a terrible thing for Laguna. A stunt comp would've given the fans something more entertaining to watch, and had the riders trying to push themselves. A three day show is inevitablly going to end up being a GIANT no-handed stand up circle-off......and tons of technical tricks the fans don't understand. A comp would have more croud-pleasing tricks, I'm sure.
Great job, guys!
Once again....**** LeoVince!
Rant over....

Re: **** LeoVince....
Not that my opinion matters or anything but everyone of the pros mentioned know how to put on a show. I personally feel that shows draw a bigger crowd and keep a crowd entertained a lot more than a competition.
I have announced shows for Colton, Teach, Joe Vertical and the Death Squad. I know this crew mentioned is capable of putting on some of the best one wheeled shows in the world. I have been there first hand in front of close to 20,000 people and seem the proof.
I understand that your upset that you lost your moment of shine. But you also have to remember that these corporate companies want the best representation of their company. Your lil rant here isn''t and won't help Leo Vince to change their mind in the future. So they changed their mind at the last moment, big deal, it happens all the time. I think you just got a taste of what every professional rider has enountered, you lost your moment of shine, these guys have lost house payments, bike payments, gas money and whatever else because a company and or a promotor changed their mind last minute. But coming on a public forum and complaining and telling a company to go F themselves isn't going to help your case.
I'm not attacking you personally or anyting like that, this is just my opinion after reading this thread.
Thanks,
Tice

Re: **** LeoVince....
Give me a ******* break. People have been trying to get something going at laguna long before you even knew what a wheelie was. And no wonder it got fucked up SBF was involved. Kel can't put **** together, Infineon comp was cool before SBF got their hands in it. How many people in SBF even know how to stunt, how many are real pro riders, none! All Kel cares about is making some money for himself.

Re: **** LeoVince....
Thats kind of fucked up. Who stunts with aftermarket pipes anyway?
To non stunters, stunt comps are boring. Every run looks the same to them. Watching pros do the best tricks is boring after 10 minutes. Watching amateurs do less technical tricks is just as boring to them, if not worse.

Gotta say I disagree.........a stunt comp with individually scheduled events throughout the day Sat and Sun would provide more entertainment for the crowd, IMO....just purely due to the fact that something TOTALLY different would be going on at different times. Some race fans might do stoppies occasionally on their own bike, and be totally fired up about a target stoppie comp.......might not care less about anything else......but will do anything he can to see that target stoppie comp. Catch my drift?

And like I said in the SR thread..........on a purely pro level(no amateurs like me
).......this SHOULD be a comp!! I mean ****......the "almighty" Thomas is going to be your announcer, why NOT give the crowd something a bit more entertaining than a 3-day stunt show?
......because LeoVince says no???? **** them.

, bro.
Unfortuneately...........you're completely off track with my reasoning, here. I could really care less about myself, here. I know quite a few pro level riders(once again....I'm an amateur) that did lose a couple days of shine because LeoVince took over and CHANGED the whole event. I personally, DON'T think that's too ******* cool.......especially when SBF seeked them out as a sponsor, then got told to kick rocks when THEY had the event planned.

See above for my opinion on shows vs. comps.

Been going to Laguna for almost(missed a year or two) 10 years straight. Watched Rothwell perform back in the day.....and LVX.....when JoJo was hot...

Kane and Clint Ewing been trying for years, as I'm sure you might have, too. I understand the scene.

All I gotta say about Kel and SBF is that I just met most of them at Infineon for the first time, and they're all cool as hell. THEY put together the comp at Infineon, which went down w/out a hitch.....good show.....AND.......THEY found LeoVince to sponsor the stunt spot, and then got the rug swept out from beneath them......which has now made it almost worthless(one hour riding for SBF "riders"......meaning guys like myself who have nothing to do with SBF, but know the crew). Basically......SBF got fucked. From your opinion above, I'ld imagine you don't care, though.

CROWDS IN EXCESS of 250,000 have occured at this event in the past.
first off Nick is right, Laguna Seca Moto GP is a premier motorcycle event, with a lot of very important history. specially for stunters. for the past 20+ years the july Laguna Seca motorcycle race has been the largest crowd drawing sportbike race of the year. The stunt shows each year have always had a huge significance for the riders and the crowd. for 15 years it was Gary 'the legend' Rothwell, of europpe,'s show. In 2002, it was in fact my first big show as I was given an opportunity to ride alongside the Las Vegas Extremes when they were hired. and were hired only for a VERY similiar to 09 reason (see below) when Rothwell canceled at the last second. for the 2 following years afterwards it was Buel Factory / Dunlop's Craig Jones of Europe performing. Then Redbull signed on, and the race went world level GP. for the following 3 years Redbull has been the sole bringer of the entertainment at the show. Performances put on by Christian Pfieffer for all three with guest performance by Redbulls young stunt blood Mr. Aaron Colton last year. ask aaron, laguna is the big leages. Up until only a few weeks ago it was a gaurentee that Colton would be performing. Redbull surprisingly backed out of sponsorship of the event. So impromptu in fact the tickets still read redbulls motogp. leaving the track operations managers scrambling for entertainment through their contact. which of course are the paying vendors of the event.
dont know or care how you got Leo Vince involved, but fat props as I am sure it was key in getting the show put on this year.
to my knowledge the shows are as follows"
Friday:
3 performances by Factory Ducati : Nick Apex Brocha / Ernie Edub Vigil
2 Performances by Factory BMW : Chris "Teach" McNeil
Sat
3 performances by Factory Ducati : Nick Apex Brocha / Ernie Edub Vigil
2 Performances by Factory BMW : Chris "Teach" McNeil
2 Performances by Factory Kawasaki : Kane "Insane" Friesen @ Teammate Guru Ardas
Sun
3 performances by Factory Ducati : Nick Apex Brocha / Ernie Edub Vigil
2 Performances by Factory BMW : Chris "Teach" McNeil
2 Performances by Factory Kawasaki : Kane "Insane" Friesen @ Teammate Guru Ardas
Yamaha's Bill Dixon was also offered the event but due to injury he will be unable to attend
Kawasaki's Jason Britton was also offered the event but due to schedule conflicts he will be unable to perform
SBF were also offered an opportunity, but to my knowledge it was under the impression to be offered as a show and not a contest, however I am still told by trackside that there will be 1 performance sat and 1 on sun at 10AM to be offered the the SBF
each rider is up to themselves to negotiate their payments through whomever invited them..
this is a very exciting and pivitol moment for the stunt history of Laguna Seca, and one for the memory books for the riders being given a chance to perform.
Big leagues son.. so stop whinning like an amatuer and act like a pro...

YOU wouldn't be riding if it weren't for LeoVince sponsoring the stunt spot.
LeoVince wouldn't be sponsoring YOUR stunt spot without SBF having seeked them out.
SBF gets the rug pulled from under them, no longer do they get to "plan" the event, they get widdled down to 1 hour per day for "show".......no comp. Whoever cancelled the competition hindered the possibility of this becoming a bigger stunting event each year quite a bit.
As far as there being stunt shows at Laguna for MotoGP events........I don't know where you were, bro.......but there were NO stunt shows put on at Laguna by ANY Euros for the first two years GP came back! I was at every spot at every time, and not once did one wheelie happen. Clint Ewing told us about how you and him offered to do shows, but the Euros had the spot, and he talked trash about how they never showed also.
Anyway...........I'm an AMATEUR, Kane. I'm not a pro...........just speakin up for some.

DUDE YOU ARE WRONG! WHOEVER TOLD YOU THAT IS FULL OF ****! LEO IS NOT PAYING ANYONE OF THESE GUYS AND THE TRACK ISNT EITHER
