Re: Steel Vs. Stainless

Also what I was thinking is what is the advantage/disadvantage with a 520 chain or 525?

I'm so use to 525

Re: Steel Vs. Stainless

I don't know about the 636... I had 530 on the gsxr, so when I got the f4i I did the same and I love it.... Im sure someone that knows more than me will chime in pretty soon... Im just going off of experience... I don't know to much about mechanics....

Re: Steel Vs. Stainless

Go with a Thrust 525 kit. If you have clearance for a 530, go for it, its a stronger chain and wont stretch as much. 520 kits are a waste, I have 2 buddies that bought 520's with the biggest Vortex kits available at the time and they were lucky to get 3000 miles of street riding before they were cutting links out of the chain. 520 is for roadracing, its lighter - less rotating mass. for what we do it doesnt make a bit of difference.... go with the chain that will last longer!

Re: Steel Vs. Stainless

ive run 520s on all my bikes and i never had a problem with stretching or premature wear. a 530 however is stronger and will last longer in the same set of circumstances. but no problems with my bikes, i put anywhere from 12 to 18k miles a year on my bikes with no broken teeth stretched chains.
