Re: 05 636 over heating????????????

Sounds like you have the basics covered.

1. Put new thermostat back in.
2. Make sure there is no air in the system afterwards.
3. Make sure fan is spinning correctly. Should be pulling air through radiator.
4. Make sure oil is clean and full. Make sure oil cooler is not clogged.
5. Make sure coolant is at the proper level in the overflow bottle.
6. Make sure radiator cap is good. If in doubt, replace it.

What conditions does it overheat?
What temperatures is it running?
Does it boil over into the overflow bottle?

That's all I can think of right now. Beyond that, you get into high engine compression, lean running conditions, brakes dragging, or timing problems.

Hope that helps some.

shouldn't overheat without water wetter. Find the problem first.

Re: over heating 05 636????????????

Yep. You are overheating.

120C is almost 250F! That is getting into critical damage temperatures.

Since the thermostat is out, remove radiator cap and look inside radiator and make sure coolant is circulating. Then start checking everything else.

Sorry,

With the thermostat still out, remove the radiator cap and start the bike up. Then look inside of the radiator and see if the coolant is flowing through the radiator. It will be obvious.

If the coolant is flowing, the start checking everything else. If there is no movement what-so-ever, the time to look at the water pump.

tokwik has you covered but i would like to ad one thing , when your bike starts flashing instead of turning it off shift the bike into 6th gear and just cruise around a little to get some air across the radiator , that should help cool it off

Re: over heating 05 636????????????

BTW i wouldn't keep riding the bike until you find out why your bike keeps over heating cause eventually your going to pop a head gasket. When you did the fan switch mod are you sure it was installed correctly. Is their a possibility that the temp. sensor its fried and maybe your bike isnt overheating you cluster is just reading that it is?

Re: over heating 05 636????????????

I run engine ice, wrapped the headers, and hardwired the fan. Still runs around 205 and the hottest I've had it this year was 225 after doing burnouts.

Re: over heating 05 636????????????

i changed the oil in the bike and a couple days later it started leaking out the front of the head.
but it seems like it only leaks when im at high rpms doing stoppies and stuff..
