i always cut a groove in the head of the adjuster so i can use a big screw driver on one and a wrench on the other instead of being in there with two wrenches

I don't know how these things work but why cant you just re-adjust the tensioner thats already in the bike?

it's rattling because it's broke

 

It's not adjustable. (well it is but that won't fix your problem)
The reason they rattle is because the hole press pin that holds the tip on is in wears and leaves slack. That fraction on a mm is enough to make a harsh rattle when it's amplified through your cam chain.

There's not really any danger of your chain jumping timing because the internals have a ratcheting device inside that only lets it expand out, not in.

The manual ones aren't that bad to put in. you will have to adjust it eventually

Just cut your pipe shorter and forget about it

 

Ok OneWheelNeal... I got the bike all put together... Just put the finishing touches on it today.. Pulled a couple whoolies in front of my house but that's it... Gonna start the real practicing tomorrow... We'll start the week from tomorrow at 7pm.. And end on next Saturday at 7pm... I will use Sunday to edit a video together and have the vid up on Sunday evening... (still getting used to the program on mac) LOL just a friendly wager, no money.. Just see if I can do it...

I just put in a cct last night and its a bitch, helps if you take off the tank and airbox and have shorty 1/4 drive ratchet with 5mm allen and shorty 5/8 open end wrench or ratchet wrench for adjusting the ape tensioner.

 

Yeah, The link that OMR posted is the ****... Tells you all the tools and exact positioning to take everything off.... You probably wouldn't have had to take the airbox off and **** if you saw that...

I saw it but dont have small enough tools to fit through that little hole or pivoting sockets.
it is a very tiny space to work in
