Was wondering if anyone is running one or if someone else makes one.
Subframe broke any one had any luck on welding and adding some more strength to stock one

Bump for this thread. My sub completely snapped like a twig today and i didn't even scrape that hard.

Hows this SI sub fitting for u guys that have them? I'm about to buy one REAL soon...

well, theres a post by trick about a guy bought si subframe for his 05 636 and didnt fit directly so he wont take it back or something like that.

 

+2 I heard the same crap about fitment issues

 

mine is broken almost everywhere. haha barely hold on. gotta do a lot of welding.

 

i got one on the way for my 05, just havent got it yet, but i'll let you guys know how i like it!

 

Mine broke 3 times now..

first time I just welded the crack..

But the second time I only did small plates, and cracked them like a chocolate bar..

The last time I pretty much dismanteld it (stock) and cut out 3/8 aluminum plate and welded it to the sides right underneath the passenger seat latch.. Plates were about 8" long.... also put 1/8 gussets from where the bottom square stock ends.. its holding up pretty good now...

3rd times the charm.. i hope..

Curious on the SI subframe though...

i'm actually waiting on a subframe I orderd on ebay cause I just broke mine so bad that it was unrepairable, I'm about to do the ill crazy aluminum plate job on the one I'm getting and I'll take pics of it

i have 2 spares that are bent, and i just tweaked my nice one when i flipped forward. I might have a go at cutting one up and reinforcing.

how much are the steel SI ones?

 

They're 399. I like how the Atown round bar extends forward and mounts to the subframe where its doubled up...kind of gave me a few ideas

 

I'm still waiting on my subframe but when I get it I'm gonna go apeshit and weld some crazy bracing on it and I'll take pics and put it on here

 

I've got the A-Town round bar with the bracing and I don't think I will have any subframe issues.....it's braced very well to the strong part of the subframe.

How are you breaking them? scraping pipe or 12 bars? Just curious.

 

I broke mine with my foot in the hole doing a fast circle and it snapped in half but I scrape exhaust when I scrape
