cable repair

Is there a machine or kit to make or repair cables. Clutch, throttle, etc a local shop charges $100 an hour to make or repair them I figure id make my own for me and friends at a fraction of the cost and them ******* at the shop wont tell me what they use to do the repair. I dont break cables very often but if I want to lenghthen or shorten one it would be nice

Re: cable repair

well becuase im better its alot esier to fix your own and alot quicker then buy cables and waiting for them to come in, and not to mention it would be nice to make your own for running a thumb throttle and db bars or a cuctom choke cable, etc. i have made and repaired them using roll pins and brazing but its reallllly hard and slightly damngerous.

Re: cable repair

ive only had to replace cables on one out of the 10 bikes ive owned and that was after 35k miles. i wouldnt worry too much about it. its not like it happens everyday, and its a much safer feeling knowing you have a factory component rather than some rigged up bullshit.
