What's your opinion?

ok, so I have an 07 gsxr 600, completely stock and in perfect condition.
My friend has an 08 gsxr 600 that he wrecked, all the plastics, headlight tail light, and gauge cluster are worthless. It is stock as well. The engine, frame, wheels, and everything else is fine.

I plan on using my tax return and yearly bonus to purchase some stunt parts.

Should I purchase the stunt parts for his bike and share both bikes with him? Meaning he could take my bike out whenever he wants or when I'm not using it. He's a really good friend of mine, and he even offered to pay for insurance... He wrecked his learning wheelies, and would not mess around on my bike because obviously his would be stunted out. I would probably keep it streetable too, so that we can both ride or swap back and forth.

I know letting someone, who's wrecked their own bike, ride my perfect bike seems dumb, but what if it was insured? I'm kinda in over my head with debt anyways, and I have gap insurance to cover if gets totalled.

thoughts???

Not a terrible idea if you guys are boys, you trust him completetly, and if that is the only way you can have a true stunt bike. I always prefer to have my own ****, free and clear, but I'm in a position where I can have it that way.

Re: What's your opinion?

lol, ya, we looked everywhere and it seems fine, we've even ridden it, but it's illegal now without a headlight. It wasn't really a bad wreck, when he came down from the whoolie he didn't have his front wheel straight enough. and well, you can imagine what happens then.

I've been thinking about just buying an acerbis light first and just riding it around to make sure everythings in good working order before buying sprockets, chain, cages and ****.

Re: What's your opinion?

well the way I see it, is it would mean free insurance on my bike, so that if either one of us total it, it's paid off. And it'd be like having 2 bikes.

maybe you can just buy a stunt bike with your tax refund, but if you wanna save some of it i get what your saying, but sharing a bike sucks, trust me... remember sitting at the spot just waitin to hop on someones bike wen mine was down, it sucked

ya, if all goes well, or rather until one breaks down we'd both have a bike. and I'd probably ride mine and keep mine for the majority of the time, but weekends or days off I would go switch so I can get some practice in.

Re: What's your opinion?

Obviously this is a minor financial commitment compared to say......owning a home with your buddy. There is no quicker way to kill a friendship than owning something together, car, boat, bike etc.(some people manage but they r the exception to the rule). You mentioned your jacked financially as is. Perhaps you should continue to enjoy your own bike and work on paying down your debt before taking on another project. Sorry to sound like a parent but it's true!!!!

What I mean is the balance left on the financing of the bike is much more than the value. and if he insures it, then the insurance and gap will cover the bike in case it gets totalled, by him or me.

I don't know, when he proposed the idea at first it made perfect sense, then I was like wait a minute that's stupid, and now I'm beggining to see the light again.

Pros:
My bike gets insured
My bike stays minty(knock on wood) while having full access to a stunt bike
Learning/practicing with someone elses bike

Cons:
Letting someone else ride my bike somewhat regularily
Possibly ending a friendship if he doesn't stand up to his word
My money being spent on his bike

Nuetral:
If my bike gets damaged by him, he pays to fix, damaged by me, I'll decide then. If it gets totalled by either of us, insurance covers all debts.

Re: What's your opinion?

personally i wouldn't do it just cause i have lost friends and such when doing things like this something that has money involved is the last thing you want to do with a good friend cause half the time it ends up bad and some one gets pissed or screwed then your not boys anymore..
