Sprocket Recommendations

Im still squiding it up pretty good on my 05 gsxr600 with a stock front sprocket and a 53 tooth rear. Im really working towards slowing down my wheelies and hoping to get my control down well enough to start learning 12's consistently. I've got a 64t rear that I could put on anytime.. My question is would you guys recommend jumping up to it now or keep it up with the 53 until i've got better control? My main problem seems to be not snapping it right to BP and kinda stopping short and having to accelerate to bp. Just wondering if more gear will help eliminate this problem, or if i just need to quit being a ***** and get it up there to bp as it is?

Re: Sprocket Recommendations

53 is plenty for now. you need to learn idle and good throttle and brake contrlo before going any more. you can learn on stock. more gear equals more twitchy.

Re: Sprocket Recommendations

Stick with the 53T for now and just concentrate on control. The bike will also still be streetable with the 53T

Re: Sprocket Recommendations

Im covering the break of course, tapping it lightly once im up... I still get the urge to start riding it before im at BP a lot and i think thats part of the reason i've gotta accelerate so much at times.. Trying to break myself of that. Im in the process of putting a handbrake on, but im working out of town so the progress on that is slow.

Re: Sprocket Recommendations

you dont need a handbrake you just need time, it seems like you have a basic idea of what your tryin to do and thats the first step.
