Not saying I've been treated the right way every time, and not saying I've stopped everytime either, but lots of people blame the cops despite the fact that their actions put them in that position.

I've been cut more breaks by being respectful and honest than by the "FTP" attitude. I got caught doing 157 in a 55 (just gotten my bike and before I started running). He could have easily hauled my *** off to jail, then I would have had my license pulled, etc. but because I didn't argue with him and made it clear that I understood I was wrong he only gave me a *Warning*. And that wasn't the only time.

And no, I'm not a cop. Just a fellow biker that thinks the "FTP" attitude doesn't help you out at all.
if some one broke into my house when i wasn't home i would want to get there before the police because they are as bad as the criminals around here ...biggest gang in this city drives police cars

The point I was trying to make is this: At the end of the day, the legal system supersedes any opinions we have of it. Meaning that if we break the law, we WILL face the consequences. That being the case, by not being cooperative or being a dick, you're not doing yourself any favors. Even though I've thought it in my mind, I didn't show that and got a break. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever gotten fully charged with something I did.

And my record is far from flawless.

my point is cops abuse the power we give them and even when youre not breaking the law they like to **** with you just because you are on a bike ..

i call BS on the cop story too...but i guess it could happen. i had a cop pull me over for goin by him in a SS last yr..he asked me if i had a motorcycle license. i showed it to him. then he asked if i was doin a wheelie on the same rd a few hrs before. i said no. then he said "ok, dont kill yourself" he turned around and got back in his car. didnt even bother to run my license or anything...i was sitting there lookin at my friend like..holy ****. did he just let me go? hahaha

Haha it's all good. I couldn't believe it my damn self at the time! I figured at best he might reduce it or not give me a wreckless and I was shocked when he handed my license back and warned me that if he caught doing that again he'd have some company on the way back to the PD. I don't blame you guys for calling BS.

No argument here. They've tried to hit me with stuff I didn't do, speeds I wasn't doing, etc. All I'm saying is that if we have to deal with them, we're better off doing so in a respectful manner than a "**** you" manner.

Yes. But when you are NOT breaking the law, not doing anything wrong, and a cop comes and ***** with you, THAT is what gives us the FTP mentality.

You do realize when people say **** the police on a forum, they are NOT saying it to a cops face right?

Obviously you act respectful if you don't want to get in trouble.. I don't think anyone in this thread says they tell a cop to **** off at any point in time..

Having the FTP mentality, and actually telling a cop to go **** himself are two TOTALLY different things.

Of course they're different, but not always separated. Most of the guys I run with are hardcore FTP. They'll start running their mouths and arguing with a cop as soon as he informs them why he's pulled them over, even if he's right. All I'm saying is that it's not the best approach and I'd be shocked if some of the guys on here haven't done that. I know I have.

And I'm not trying to get into a debate with anyone. I'm not a fan of them myself but I swallow my pride when I have to if it'll save my *** from a big ticket or getting arrested.

I'm not arguing that. I've got several "toys" that will quickly deter any wanna-be thief from stealing from me and I won't hesitate to use them once they've been warned. What I was saying is, let's say your house gets broken into and they get away with your 60" plasma TV, 2 computers, the titles to everything you own, and they trash the place. Do you just say, "I'll get them next time" or do you call the popo?
