actually this new law for nyc, you dont even have to be on the bike. When theyre out writing parking tickets, they're supposed to check motorcycle exhaust pipes for the EPA sound emissions certification.

fwiw, in louisiana, they can write you for modified exhaust if they really want, if the cop is being a jerk, you can get a ticket with a twobros slip on, my brother is a cop and he said if i fly by his house after 12pm again hes gonna find me and write me an exhaust ticket LOL he was alittle pissed when i wheeled away from a light and he was facing me, i just ran and went home, he showed up at my house a few minutes later all pissed off LOL

They can do the same in missouri, hell I think they can do it in most states, but I know a lot of states like missouri, cops really don't care

TECHNICALLY your not supposed to make any modifications to your engine unless its C.A.R.B certified, and almost no aftermarket companies get carb certified because it costs a lot of money...

But I hear in cali, they WILL Bust you for not runing c.a.r.b certified mods.. I've never been there, but my friend went, and he said EVERY car he saw with an aftermarket exhaust, had a silencer in it.. Whereas missouri, i've NEVER Seen a car with a silencer in the end

Hopefully that wont get passed, I called.

Tennessee's where its at, no pipe restrictions, no emissions, no state inspection, no signals, cops arent jaded yet, its lax. I pull up right next to cops on the stunter and just stare at em, and most wont even bat an eye in my direction

Re: $1000 fine for loud pipes

its just another sad attempt at nickleing and diming people because taxes just arent enough. i once had a cop tell me that any exhaust other than stock is illegal. i was like haha thats why cruisers all have loud *** pipes on them, and the sticker on my swingarm says a certain amount of decibels at a certain rpm, and thats federal law, so if they dont have a decibel meter in their pocket and its done from a certain distance at a certain rpm i dont see it holding up in court ever. that was my gixxer with a cut down hindle. now i have a stock!
