having problem removing si cage on f4i.

Hey, Im trying to remove my si cage on my f4i and cant get a socket that will go on the nut that is in front of the headers. If anyone knows this size please let me know. Its the front bolt and nut that is in front of the headers. I cant get any sockets to grab on the nut. I know the rear mount is a 9/16 socket but i cant get that socket to bite on the nut. If anyone knows the size please let me know.
thanks for your help in advance

Re: having problem removing si cage on f4i.

you need an allen bit, not a socket

Re: having problem removing si cage on f4i.

the Allen bit I have. I need the size of the socket that attaches to the Allen bit screw. I think I need to buy a Long socket that's 12 points not 6 and it should grab. I just need the right size first.

the nut that comes with the cage is a 9/16, i think you may be able to just take the allen out

I am turning the Allen bolt but the nut on the other side is spinning so I need the socket size so I can grab onto it.

I didn't see the post that said it was 9/16. I'm gonna buy a long 12 point 9/16 tomorrow and hope I have better luck.

Re: having problem removing si cage on f4i.

I couldve sworn it was a 14mm but I'm not 100% on that. I can check tomorrow for you coz I have a spare set of mounting hardware from their cage. If you want me to check pm me and I'll do it in the morning when I get up.

14 mm is almost the exact same size as a 9/16

Re: having problem removing si cage on f4i.

why are you so hung up on 12 point, 6 point grabs more surface area on a bolt than 12 point any day, mechanics 101

Re: having problem removing si cage on f4i.

yea maybe i should have tried both but the 9/16 worked out for me. the 14mm may be better to use....but seems like when you get the nut started you can just tighten up on the allen
