Re: cutting down a carbon can

Hey I have cut probably 5 cans, carbon and alum. I cut my brothers two brothers down just the other day and all it did was get a little louder and looks way better than the 2 ft it was. He didn't have to mess with anything. When I cut the cans I put it in a vice with rags on the teeth so it don't scratch it, then I measure it and put a piece of electrical tape around it and cut it with a hack saw. All the ones I have cut from the inlet side. Just drill your rivets out cut and put the inlet alum. piece where it needs to go drill the new holes and rivet it.

Re: cutting down a carbon can

If you cut the can at the beginning on a two brothers it wont go back together the wright way, cause the can is suppose to come apart at the end cap. To do it the way it should be you need to cut the length off the end of the can and then just rivet the logo back on.

Re: cutting down a carbon can

Use a chop saw with a carbon blade..

IMO a dremel is gonna **** it up, no way in hell your gonna get a straight cut, and even then, a dremel you'll spend 30 minuetes hacking at that thing..

Then you gotta cut the INSIDE steel.. that'll take another 20 minutes..

chop saw = 100% straight, and about 15 seconds to slice through it

Yosh cans are a pain, the core has sleeve welded to the end of it that slides inside the end cap, u have to cut it lose from the core and put it back into the shortened core. if that makes sense.
