question for you: On dakota and durango forums i frequently hear exactly what you just said about the 4.7. On the jeep forums however, everybody loves them and I rarely hear about the rod knock issue, or the sludge build up issue the dodge versions have. Isnt it the same motor inside and out?

depends what you plan on doing neal... I know a few people with industrial lathe's you could use if you needed to do a part.

there are apparently three different versions or generations of the 4.7 . jeep had the first gen , then dodge screwed it up . in the jeep world the 4.7 is the better choice . the newer straight 6 has head gasket / head cracking issues . in the dodge world depending on the year stick with the 5.2 and 5.9's or the hemi . if u want i can pm u my cell and explain in a lil more detail.
