I did a quick bit of reading, but couldn't find anything that supported that 100%. What's the deal with the mineral fluid?

Re: Are Brembo Betta The Mugura

They make 2 different clutch masters. 1 runs on the mineral oil and the other standard brake fluid. All the brakeside masters run standard fluid.

This is false. You have to run Magura blood for their Hydraulic clutch systems. For the master cylinders you can run DOT4 and it will work fine. I choose to run the EBC RBF307 but there are many other options out there.

I have a 13mm master that is a clutch side master (it's not flipped).

Any chance I should be running mineral oil in it? I thought it was the exact same as the brake side one

Re: Are Brembo Betta The Mugura

i think the big deal is not mixing the 2 fluids. If you got a brand new one that no mineral oil has ever touched, its probably safe for brake fluid. I dont know for sure tho, maybe the O rings are made of something other than the standard rubber.

No the only thing Magura sells that uses mineral oil is the hydraulic clutch conversion kits, that change cable clutches to hydraulic...And they come prefilled and bled with mineral oil...

NO! you dont want to run DOT 4 in a master thats supposed to use mineral oil, the internals are not made to withstand brake fluid. It will eat away at the seals

And to the original question, the Brembo is a good master, better then most others...But the 13mm Magura is the most powerfull and has the most feel...Ive been using it on all my bikes for a while now, and when I try someones bike with a Brembo it feels like it doesnt even work...Im so used to the power of the 13mm...

Re: Are Brembo Betta The Mugura

when i used to sell mountainbikes, all magura brakes had only mineral oil, no DOT or whatever brake fluid.

But for the motorbikes parts, brake MC is no prob and i def think 99,9% of the clutch ones are ok to go with dot 4 or RBF or whatever.

if not i think me and lots of other guyz woud of have serious troubles plus i think brake caliper seals woudn't hold with mineral oil that requires special seals

Softer rubber or what? Id assume brake fluid is far more corrosive than mineral oil.

Which is thinner?

Not sure what exaclty makes them not able to withstand brake fluid(I assume its what the rubber seals are made of), I just know that if it says "use mineral oil only" you dont want to use brake fluid or it will ruin it. And I know that alot of mountain bike brake masters use it (mineral oil)....And its **** compared to even decent brake fluid! The boiling point on it is very low...

And yeah the mineral oil is thinner and less corrosive....The stuff Ive worked with was almost clear and about the same consistancy as a light cooking oil...
