Re: Gas Prices

i just filled up an hour ago for 3.85. I work at Home Depot and a guy came in tonight looking for a big number 4. When I asked him what he needed it for he said he owned a gas station and he was gonna raise his prices to 4.49 by mid day Saturday.

I wanted to get into a gas price discussion with him, but I know I would have gotten mad at the guy, and he's only trying to make a living Oh well

Only trying to make a living? So if home depot raises the price of everything 20% then they're just trying to make a living???

Re: Gas Prices

ohh yea, and some other random info that i found out this week. All the foreign oil we are buying is allowing those foreign nations to invest in American companies. The controlling stakeholder in Citibank is the Government of Saudi Arabia. This may not be new to some people, but I was amazed at that.

that guy doesn't control the price, he only tries to keep up with the trends. IMHO. Comparing Home Depot and a private business owner isn't fair, cause one is a corporation with stock and stake holders to look out for, and the other has their own back to look out for.

Yeah I feel ya...really can't compare

They're saying that fuel is taking a hit so the price needs to be raised...

but aren't many huge corporations taking a hit from hurricane Ike? Like being shut down...damage...etc. but do you see them raising prices?

I ******* hate the goverment...and reading that about Citi bank makes me want to burn one down...

***** not fair in anyway

Re: Gas Prices

Its not as much the government as it is the individual gas station owners raising prices, they use this as an excuse to get money. They know people will panic and buy gas, therefore they raise the prices

87 is nowhere to be found where I live, but 93 is plentiful ))

Re: Gas Prices

Just to update... gas by me was 4.19 this morning... and a barrel of oil is trading for $96.56... CNN was saying the drop was do to how little damage Ike did once it made landfall.

On a funny note I heard a joke on the radio before Ike hit that went something like... "Ike is predicted to be so bad that Tina Turner is seeking shelter at a Women's Shelter."

But take in to consideration that most people in the states drive vehicles that only get 18 mpg (7.65 km/L) and live on average 60+ miles from where they work. We have a public transportation system that is a joke and our cities are not nearly as well designed for public transportation as most European cities.... The price we pay for the amount of fuel we burn compensates for the large difference in prices. Atleast thats what I get from some online research.... not saying they the gas companies are raping Europeans any less then we are getting raped on prices...

Could be your location in regards to how far the nearest refinery is... there any refineries or large gas depos near your area?
