Gearing question, has anyone tried this?
I use my bike (2k R1) as a commuter, but I would like to stunt some too. I like the idea of 15/45+ gearing for learning slow standups and such, but I don't want to be buzzy on the highway.
I was thinking about trying this: going 17/46 for commuter usage. Then swaping to 15 for stunting. 17/46 = 2.705 which is really close to stock. 15/46 = 3.067 which is a little better than 15/45 for stunts.
Could this work? If I set up the 17/46 against the stops, could I adjust to get the 15/46 working?

Re: Gearing question, has anyone tried this?
On my 07 cbr 1k i have -1 up 2 and love it....on a liter bike gearing isnt really a major issue on the eway like a 600 is, unless you go huge
and -2 on the front is harder on the tranny(which the R1 tranny isnt all the great), I would only do 1 then the rest in the rear

Thanks for the replies.
Actually on the 98 - 03 R1, 15 is only -1. Stock is 16. This changed in 04.
I hate that chains are so expensive. I would love to try several gearing combos and see what works best for me.
I may buy a cheap non-oring chain so I can experiment, then buy a good chain when I decide for sure.
