Will Repeated Standups Blow Fork Seals?

I got an 02 Gix1k and I was just wondering if the forks are made to handle the impact of doing standups and coming down, will this cause problems in the long run?? anything i can do to prevent damage besides no standups lol

it doesn't matter if you are standing on your head when you do a wheelie, it only comes down as hard as you let it.

i put my 929 down hard from 12's all day long and haven't blown a seal yet but other people blow them like crazy.

when you bring it down, just roll on the throttle so it doesn't slam down. Regular wheelies generally don't blow seals. If they do they are only like 10$ to replace.

nothing to do about that, pay the price or don't stunt is basically how it is around here.

REPEATED STANDUPS CAN CRACK YOUR FRAME, ITS JUST LUCK I GUESS. IVE GOT 20,000 MILES ON MY 02 7FIDDY AND I JUST NOTICED THE CRACKED FRAME. I KNOW OF OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM, SAME PLACE, EACH SIDE OF THE HEAD TUBE. IVE NEVER BLOWN FORK SEALS THOUGH.

I dont see how you are getting that a *standup* does anymore damage than a sitdown or any other kind of wheelie short of highchairs. All wheelies will cause damage to the bike if you are landing them hard. Like everyone else said, screw being worried about fork seals, they are so cheap and easy to replace that its not even worth being bothered about.

gixxerfrk750: The gixxer frames suck ***. Thats all there is to it. If you stunt em long enough, they break. I JUST picked my bike up from the welding shop about an hour ago from being welded for the 5th time. Mine really started coming apart when I was learning highchair stoppies and wheelies. The last cracks were probably from slamming down 12s a couple times. I havent blown a fork seal yet though. lol. Thats fsckin sad when the frame cracks before the forkseals blow.

what kills fork seals is dirt getting under your seal this usually happens when you get a ring of dirt built up say halway down your tube and then you come down hard from a wheelie and you bottom out your fork tube and push all that dirt up into the seal where it acts like sandpaper until the seal begins to leak. keep your fork tubes clean and you shouldn't have any premature problems.

If you're worried about blowing fork seals, stop stunting now.
