99 zx6 about to mod for stuntin... would like any educated opinion.
aight, my buddy just got a 99 zx6 for cheap n we are bout to try n set it up for stuntin. i know about the carb fuel starving deal n all.. we are gonna try n put a fuel pump on it to see if it will help, think i heard the 900rr are carbed with a fuel pump n dont have many issues with fuel, or maybe try n swap for a 03 tank with pump in it... i got an 04 636 so we will see how much fab work itll take to swap. when we tear it down ima check to see if we can do the kleen air mod, n see if we have to mod the tip sensor, or if there is even an issue with that on a carbed bike... hell might not even have one, i dunno yet till i tear it down i guess. but dose any one know about any issues with the oil pick up on these old things? we have a shop with plasma cutters, hydrolic pipe benders, n welders so we gonna try n bootleg a cage for this thing. see how well that goes... ha ha ha might end up breaking the frame who knows... but yeah, anyone who has any info on an old carbed piece, id love to hear what you got to say. and for all the ******** who will trash this thread n say go FI... **** off, we doin this on a budget! ha ha ha joking. i enjoy the **** talk too, just kinda wanna hear some educated replys. OMR, im looking your way! That OMR seems like a really smart dude. latter:YEAH

well thanks and i learned how to stunt on a 98 ...the frame will be fine as long as you keep the motor mounts tight , when you crash the cage bends a a little and causes the motor mounts to loosen up and since the motor is most of the support for the frame thats what usually cause it to brake so stay on top of your maintenance...
as far as the fuel pump from an 03 i don't think that will work for you because the needle and seat in the carbs wouldn't be able to handle the pressure a pump for an injected bike puts out , i reccomend just lowering the loat levels a little bit ...
the oil pickup is fine on the zx so don't sweat that just keep the oil full up to the top of the site glass or just slightly below the top and yes do the clean air mod ...trust me on this one...lol

well what you think about a seperate fuel pump spliced in the hose between the tank to the carbs? i imagine i would need some sort of pressure regulator maybe... with very little but some pressure do you think it would work well or will the floats not work correctly at such an angle regardless? and is there a tip sensor on that thing? i figured bein carbed it might be a bit diff... what kinda steel should we use to try n construct the cage with? the heavier the better? the plan so far is to have it mount to the upper motor mounts where the sliders mount and then through the rear where the swing arm pivots... then some kinda brace across from one side to the other in front of the header manifold to keep it all togeather nice n solid... pretty much tryn to copy what the major companys are selling... ha ha ha were cheap..

if i remember correctly i think mine had a fuel pump from the factory but that may have been the 95 that had a pump i don't remember ..
any way i would just lower the floats a little to keep it from running to rich while your in a wheelie
and as far as the tip over i don't think mine had one well i didn't disconnect it even if it did so that shouldn't be an issue either way ..
i made my own cage for mine but i didn't go under the bike i just used the motor mounts front and back and the swing arm through bolt ..i think ..lol
it has been about 2 1/2 years since i have seen that bike
1 inch o/d steel tubing should be plenty for a cage
