SuperMoto has gotten smaller at least on the east coast since it has been on the X Games, so I don't know if it is even such a big deal to make the X Games anymore.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

I started "stuntriding" around the time when it first came around , before cage company's, stunt products etc. When we were out there on stock bikes, before the homemade wheelie bars. My first show was at the first summer nationals , in the worcester tunnels,it was an awesome feeling to be out there with DTE, Ruthless tactics etc,. We were rockin our highchairs, spreaders, standups Whatever it took to entertain the crowd. I was doing it back then, with the same passion that I do it now, I was out there with ,Teach, Chauncey, G nice, and there crews. Nobody back then gave a **** about "if this was going to make them rich" or at least I didnt.

I did it because thats what I loved to do, the risk and reward, the passion and the glory. If you focus too much on the money and the business side of it, that will take away from the reason you started doing this in the first place. If you love to do something, anything thats legitimate, and you perfect it,practice it as an artform no matter what it is, then eventually it will turn into everything you have dreamed it will be. And judging from where we came from with this stuntriding thing of ours, from just clutching up sitdowns etc, in the streets because it was fun, to actual comps with huge sponsors. We are already there as a whole, With a few front runners, that I offer all my support, and will always TRY to be better then as long as i ride.

Its like anything else, do what you love to do because you love it, if something comes from it, then so be it if not then at least you had fun doing what you love.

Do I think this sport is going anywhere? Its quite obvious to any man of common sence, i mean just look at all the opinions on this thread alone from the O.G's or anyone who knows where stunting came from to where it is now.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

I don't think the ratio of people who "make it" vs people who don't will be any different than the pro curve is for any other sport. and I do think stunting will get a lot bigger as the years go by.

if you want to try, you owe it to yourself to find out how far you can go.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

That love nelson is talking about is also what makes stunting so appealing. You guys (especially the top pros) are some of the most passionate athletes I've ever run across, and I'm fairly representative of the mainstream.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

my opinion is that it would get boring at a professional level. i have no desires to ever be a pro stunt rider BUT i think it would make for a hit tv show. i am generally weird as ****, probably weirder than tom green, and i have an idea for a pilot.

take a tom green/viva la bam/jackass style show and mix it all together with a bunch of stunt riders destroying ****. people want to see **** get destroyed, it's a fact. that would be really entertaining in my opinion. i could go out and be weird and film entertaining non bike related scenes, and then hop on the bikes and ride 50's through walmart, or wheelies on the big bikes in the lumber yard at home depot for example.

if you had a large scale productoin company like MTV to produce the show, you would be able to get consent from the property owners and let the mayhem ensue, without the general public knowing the difference. i know that most the things you see on viva-la-bam are premeditated and there is consent given before the segment is filmed, that's how hollywood works.

you wouldn't be able to base the show primarily off stunt riding, but with a bunch of stunt riders hanging out together there is always mayhem and destruction around the corner. just look at all the blown up port-o-pottys, stolen water trucks, and palm trees caught on fire by fighting with roman candles.

amen brother, nothing but a bunch of nut swingers, and kids with no ******* clue about how it works in the real world. i love to stunt ride. i have been riding my whole life. i own my own business, and i make more than enough money, that i could pack my **** up and go to every comp around this country and try to compete. but im not going to throw good money away. i remember back in the day when their were maybe 10-20 real stunt riders out there. everyone was cool to hang with, and their was never any drama. (other than kyle, and tony). i would choose to ride with guys like ***** any day over a few big name riders who think they are special.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

For the most part, the only people that actually enjoy watching parking lot stunting are stunters or have a connection to stunters. It is boring as hell to watch and the only thing "regular people" react to are ******* burnouts. You cannot even mention Moto X in the same breath as lot stunting. Moto X is entertaining to a lot of people because they recognize the risk and danger. Putting across a parking lot has little risk involved.

Somebody mentioned skateboarding, but what is the most popular skateboarding event at Xgames now? Big air, because of the danger factor. Also, it is gonna be tough to have a professional sport where there are thousands of regular people across the country that can do the same tricks as the "pros" on TV. You dont see many regular cats around the country doing flips on dirtbikes or jumping 30 feet in the air on a skateboard.

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

exactly, the truth of the matter is, how long can u expect someone to sit on a bleacher and watch people do wheelies. its fun for riders, but crowds only like superlong endos and drifting. eventually peolple r llike: ok we get it, u can do a wheelie in a circle. they like to see endos and acros. wheelies of any sort r nothing new

It's not about some 50 yr old dude it's about the 18-25 year old demographic, they're the ones with the most disposable income, they're the ones that are buying sportbikes, they're the ones the drive marketing trends.

Tech circles are maybe something you see too much of at the spot.. And for a good reason.. Circles have the most technical and have the most variation, so of course that's what most of the practice time is going to be spent on..

When's the last time you've been to a competition..? In a 3min freestyle run you might see 45 of circles or less and the rest is speed, stoppies, burnouts, acro, and croud pleasing chaos..

you almost had a good point but you lost me at croud pleasing chaos.. Most of the spectators are other stunters that are in the comp or other stunters that come to watch and their girlfriends. because right after that crowd pleasing chaos run as you put it there is another one that will be somewhat the same crap with a different rider

Re: Stunt riding will never go anywhere.

stunt comps are all wrong, they should break it up into groups and have 10min shred sessions like in x-games, i think it would be alot more entertaining to watch 10 riders throw down instead of one douchbag doing the same **** evryones else is doin. 10 riders 10 min session like at the spot, i know i would rather watch that...
