one finger handbrake????

ok...i'm still old school and am just now learning how to use one finger on the clutch and one on the handbrake....it's such a hard habit to break, but i'm wanting to learn off peg coasters and be able to clutch out of seat stander circles. i am wondering if people can lock their handbrake up with one finger?? do you need to lock the tire up or am i just freaking out over nothing??? i have a brembo 19x20 master and i seriously need two fingers to lock it up, my middle finger just isn't buff enough.

Re: one finger handbrake????

Get a 16x18, the different really is that noticeable.

Err, I say that in comparison to the r1 and r6 masters I've used, which I'd guess are of similar size to that 19x20.

16X18 Brembo locks my 636 up no problem with 1 finger if needed bring ur handbrake all the way in so u have more leverage on the end of the lever

Get a 1/2 nissan and you'll lock it up 1 finger, brembo is way over rated and the one you have is way to big of a piston.

shhhhiat i rock an 04 gsxr radial and i can lock my **** up no prob with one finger! it just takes time to get your finger all buff and stuff to go all day one fingerin the brake. youll find out that you will start to get a bruise on the spot where you one finger it...then after a while it will go away then you can rock that **** all DAY!

Re: one finger handbrake????

ive had the gsxr radial but now i use the cbr1000 front master. best one for me atleast. i have also tried brembo's and really not impressed. as far as locking the rear tire, you will never have the need to lock it up unless you want to mouse trap. i use 1 finger on the clutch and 1 on the brake all the time. im doing SS coasters in top of second gear hoping to get to third as soon as i get more room but i have total confidence in one finger on the brake, just give it a try

Re: one finger handbrake????

Mine don't lock up with one finger but I have no issue with that. It still takes the bike back to earth quickly if I get to it with seriousness. It takes a while to get used to using one for the clutch and one for the brake. I just got my callus on my middle finger grown in!

I wouldn't do that if your just worried about your left hand not being stong enough. Just get a good master that your comfortable with.

I had a callus coming in good, but know its going away because I haven't been riding nearly enough.

Re: one finger handbrake????

i like the brembo 16 x18 for the feel it has... you dont NEED it... but thats the lever i preffer. all "stock" masters feel too hard or to mushy to me... the only stock master that i kinda liked was a 900rr an a newer R1... but i still prefer brembo over magura over everything else...

but its all preference...
an if the system is bled right...
try something.. if you dont like it after alil... try something else...
but one finger on clutch an one on HB is only way in my opinion

Re: one finger handbrake????

4 piston is definately killer i got 16x18 and love it just took awhile to get use to it

and as far as getting use to two fingering always keep a finger on each when rididng helped me out

and a couple of pulling both in when i only meant to use the clutch. right over the front
