As of this moment, Vertical Limits is registered as a sole proprietership, come jan 2009 I/we (Myself, E-brake, Brandon Taylor) will be incorporated
and yes they will be the principals. As of now, they do not benefit tax wise for charity shows... ie... that's why we raise money through the sponsors for each show. For them to actually gain from the tax write off, they have to do over $3500 in write off's for the year and charity's are not allowed to write off more than $2000 per company... That comes from my accountant, not sure how it applies state to state. So in a sense, you will not benefit by only doing one charity event per year, which is why we do 3-4. But the point is, you can still make money off of the events. It's called work and it doesn't involve the bike....
what can i say, the mans on it.....trust me

Plus then we get other teams who book shows, and then give bad names by vandalizing property, riding without safety precautions, etc. and then ruin it for us. We can't even get permits in Daytona without a few strings pulled!!!

It's enough to make me consider giving up from event promotion honestly..I'm so freakin' frustrated with this area. It seems like the only other decent bike night around with a stunt show is the one that Kirby is running with Tony L and whoever guest rides each week in Sanford. Other than that it's just small teams who ride for 5 minutes at a time, sometimes under the influence of whatever their hobby may be, and then call it quits....it's no wonder that no one wants to pay for a show around here.

Any advice from other promotion coordinators?
Hears a good pointer... don't be afraid to say NO, sorry, for that amount of money, it's not worth our time and effort... I turn down quite a bit of shows because i always get the lame excuse "It's not in our budget.. and my reply is usually, Well, it's not in ours either!" Also, you can offer them options as for them finding other sponsors to pay for your show... like a local company/bike shop to help cover the cost of the show/event, in trade, they get exposure etc. etc..

try that for a start...

Thats the cream of the crop. Nobody should perform at a AMA race for FREE! Let alone any other event.

I agree with this topic! There is value to what we do, stick to your guns and get paid!

yes, that was a favor to my sponsor, showtime motorsports, to promote stunt wars for the next weekend.....i learned my lesson, and that's why i was so pissed when they told me to vend in the gravel at stuntwars.....it was also a way to get a vending spot for ama race weekend, which didn't work out because of the rain anyways....

Re: Charge Money For Shows

few things...

Promoters will always try to screw you and keep the $$$ for themselves....

Don't Undercut other riders. stick to your price they will pay.

Dont go behind other riders backs and steal the shows they setup so you can get a free trip.

Dont Lie to the riders when the promoters assistant is going to tell the riders that you really did the shows for free.

your worth more than 100.00 a rider. think of it this way if you fall and break your subframe, rear peg, case cover your paying to do a show for someone.... dont be scared not to get a show there will be more. i'd rather do 3 good paying shows a year than 20 100.00 shows

DONT DO SHOWS IF YOUR NOT CAPABLE OF PERFORMING UP TO PAR (shows arn't circle pit and combo sessions) keep it safe, do the **** you know how to do and can hit every time, Play up to the crowd & make sure you dont overload the show with too many riders 2-4 are safe depending on the area
