First tank dent...
First tank dent...
My first tank dent...that **** felt sickening to do haha. Sucks though cause it looks like ****...the paint cracked BAAADD...though I'm thinking this may be due to the previous owner repainted the tank with thick layer of spray paint. Any suggestions on the dent? Wider? deeper? farther back?

Re: First tank dent...
so how did it work? i just did my first two weeks ago and thought i liked it but then i was at the spot and decided i wanted it deeper so i stomped on it a few times and added some grip tape from the board shop and it works so good now
Re: First tank dent...
You finally did it! I know I seen you posting in the pics of tank dents thread, so you did your research.. LOL
everyone's tank cracked and chipped when it was dented... even the most smooth as glass dent jobs still cracked and chiped the paint some. Nothin that a lil bondo glazing putty from autozone and some house of Krylon can't fix! LOL no worries
I think the dent is alot of personal preference IMO. depends on what tricks you wanna do also depends on what dent you're gonna want to run.
I personally like dents from the gas cap back only and DEEP with a good built up lip in the back. I slipped off a too far forward and shallow dent on my K6 about 20mph on the higway! I freaked I guess and grabbed a ton of HB and got spit off a mousetrap in front of the bike!
I redid it, and that was my second tank to dent!!! So it's O'town for me now, but if your'e into acro., I dunno... maybe you want a flatter one?
Looks like you got a good start, and bubash is right about testing it out.... but I'd personally take that deeper a tad farther back, and then work on the lip more. you can even build up the lip more with bondo also.. It's ben done before trust me.... just go a little at a time and take your time... don't spend alot of time in the same spot, you're almost there....

Re: First tank dent...
I think it feels pretty good and fits my *** amazingly well haha. I still didn't get a whole lot of practice in though cause it started raining. Hopefully when I get off of work tonight it's not raining. Well...that and there isn't drunk people throwing firecrackers at the spot I practice haha.
Here's an updated pic...the first pic was mostly stomping with my feet so I took a dead blow to it this time. Then did a quick Krylon job so it wouldn't rust out.
