Re: 636 hybrid

Keep me updated on how this goes. I popped the motor in my 03 and I have access to a really cheap 06 motor.

Re: 636 hybrid

That pretty much means you can use the 03-04 wiring harness as well I take it. I'm also curious as to how you modified the upper rear mount for it to bolt up?

correct on the harness and depending on how far off the mount is you could either make a bracket like a shackle on a leaf spring or like he said just cut teh mount off the frame and reweld it where you need it

i don't think any one said it was impossible just that it would take some fabricating and relocating the rear motor mount on the frame is beyond what most people are capable of doing

Re: 636 hybrid

My buddy used the 03-04 throttle bodies, wiring harness, airbox, etc. and didn't have to modify the airbox any.

Re: 636 hybrid

Bumping this up again. I have an 05-06 motor sitting in my garage that needs a stator and cover. Debating whether I should drop the cash and fix it up since my motor is a genuine pile-o-garbage.

Ryno how's the bike coming along?

Also wondering if the 03-04 headers fit on the 05-06 block.

Re: 636 hybrid

i used all 06 parts the ONLY thing on my bike that is 03 04 is the frame tand subframe seats and triples.i had to dent the left side inner frame in so the throttle linkage wouldnt interfere with the movement and i had to cut the air box down.had some fuel pump issues and traded out the 04 for the 06 pump.rode it today and it is a stoppie machine.one tap and its straight to bp.havin some issues with my ho hey rearsets though......is the 06 rear master that much different than the 06?it is at a weird angle when mounted on and its binding.

Re: 636 hybrid

Why would you want to put an 05-06 motor into an 03-04 bike? the 03-04 were the only true 636cc models.

and wouldn't that be the reason 05 + is zx6r instead of 636?
