SafetySeal plugs are awesome. They are actually garaunteed to outlast your tire. I know this isn't really the item you guys are talking about, but they do kick ***, and they won't come out. They're what I use. +1 on making sure you cut off the excess plug material.

Re: Patch-plug vs. Patch

honestly i havent had much luck with either as far as burnouts. I think the burnout heats up the glue and lets it slip. and as for them pulling out i think it depends on where the hole is. eg...if the hole is in the tread pattern you wont have problems. if the hole is not in the tread then theres a chance it will at least get stretched and perhaps break off short, then the combination of the heat melting the glue and not having much left in the tire it may go flat. ive seen both fail....thats why i buy new tires. ive got a super sized stack of take offs in the g-rage that will never be used by me, but my friends love them

Re: Patch-plug vs. Patch

I just can't imagine one coming out.. But if you manage to have one come off I can only imagine a patch alone would have come off long before the patch-plug.

Re: Patch-plug vs. Patch

Napa carries the Safetyseal plugs, which are by far, the best. The kit is about $50, but it will plug like 25 holes. The tools in the kit are very high quality, unlike most plug kits.........EDIT...I misread your post Lethal, thought you were looking for plugs. I'ld just use Safetyseals, myself

If you ever want to give them another try.......try Safetyseal plugs. They are the only plug I would trust. I've had plugs in the center of my tire and done burnouts until the tire almost popped......never had a problem.

Re: Patch-plug vs. Patch

Patches are crap, they fall off! I think they're just made for repairing inner-tubes on dirtbikes.

Mushroom patch/plugs are the best, but tire has to come off to install em so it's a bitch.

Gas-station segment plugs work just fine (just shove em in and fill the tire up), but I've seen em come out on the highway so it's a gamble.

Oh believe me. I know how gangster patch plugs are. But the other people that were in the car with me think that they pull out much easier than a plug alone

Re: Patch-plug vs. Patch

He 100% truley believes that a patch works better than a patch plug. His reasoning is that the plug will pull the patch plug out when the tire is spinning.
