Wheelie help

Hey guys !!! I used to have a cbr 954 loved it, I could wheelie the hell out of it I rode almost a 2 1/2 mile stand up. A lot of people told me that the 954 was one of the best bikes for wheelies. Well I sold it big mistake, and got a cbr 1000. It just seems like its harder to do a stand up on it. I mean some times I get it some times I don't. The bp feels like its so high then I'm having a hard time steering it. I guess what I'm trying to ask is could the 954 be easier to wheelie or do you think that I just need more time on the bike I had it for 3 mouths now, I do a lot of riding I like to do highway wheelies so I don't want to gear it to much its stock gearing do you think it would help to go one down on the front sprocket, my 954 was stock gearing but felt like it had more low end , Also at bp on the 1000 the throttle twitchy.

Re: Wheelie help

more power
cog is further forward
probably lighter
probably longer wheel base

All those things are going to make the bike want to BP much higher. You'll have to smooth out your throttle hand some more and sack up w/ the balance point height.

You could get taller swept back clipons and trick yourself and the bike into wheelying lower. I wouldn't do that though.

Re: Wheelie help

The 2006 and 2007 cbr1000s wheelie much easier than the 04 and 05s. They have a shorter swing arm and are geared lower from the factory. With a pipe and PCIII the throttle is silky smooth throughout the powerband. Stock it has spurts of power, my guess is it has something to do with the backpressure valve. I love my 2006 rr. You can see super good down the forktubes when you do sitdown wheelies which is a plus.

Re: Wheelie help

I thought he didn't make them for the rr. I don't do staggard standups on the rr because the peg feels like it is going to fold up on me. I love riding but hate unnecessary risks. I'd love a subcage with folding pegs for it.

Re: Wheelie help

I had an 04 R1. If the 08 has similiar pegs you can swith the passenger peg one side to the other. It puts the peg farther forward and down so it isn't so tucked under the tail. The peg will actually fold forward so you don't have to worry about it folding in on you if you are doing a staggard wheelie with the left foot on the peg. I have a pic somewhere if that doesn't make any sense.

Re: Wheelie help

Dude I got an 07 1000 RR. Its very twitchy in first and second gear but its powerful too... I picked up the bike doing 55 MPH clutching it up. Dudee it's hard at time. Just yesturday I tried to pull the Wheelie at 50 MPH but it comes up only an inch. I gotta practice and practice. I tell ya they have soo much power and it's hard to go crazy on your 07 1000 RR cause that's your baby... Anyways let me know if you find out something new about it so I can try it on my 07 RR. :YEAH :YEAH
