bit of help getting started
bit of help getting started
i have a '92 CBR 600 and really want to get into pulling some ill stunts but not to sure where to begin with the bike. cages, bike setup, what i need to change to make it into a stunt bike, what works and what doesnt. that sort of thing. anyone give me a few pointers to help me get started?

Re: bit of help getting started
i started riding a dirt bike first, unless you know how to clutch up a wheelie and have a good feel for back brake. I'd start on something else, but what the hell do I kno .. that's just my .02
Re: bit of help getting started
first things first, get a crach cage, freestyle inginuity is great, for starting off u dont need a hand brake. stick w/ sitdown wheelies until u learn your primary balance point. seat stander is realitively safe b/c since ur weight is so far back, ur balacnce point is much lwer and u can see over the bike. crash cage is all u need, a larger tooth sprocket will help w/ power wheelies if u r not comfterable using a clutch.
Re: bit of help getting started
cool cheers. would be possible to fabricate my own crash cage or is a bought one best. i have a friend who could make one for me if i could find a design to fit my bike

Re: bit of help getting started
i lnow a bit about fabricating, a frind custom built a 12 bar for my supermoto. all a cage is is bassically a U shaped for each individual biek bolted to frame sliders. u
can take tubed steel, and weld flat circular steel w/ a bolt hole, and bolt it on as a frame slider, similar to a bicycle peg. then use the same diameter steel and make the U that goes under your biek and weled it to each frame slider.
this would b the makeshift frame slider.

Re: bit of help getting started
i would start w/ a 50 tooth rear sprocket. the main reason that someone gets a large sprocket is just a little more torque in certain wheelies, if u payh attention, u will notice pros using sprockets not much larger than stock while squids (beginers) use larger ones to start the wheelies b/c they dont know how to use the clutch well. the larger sprocket is dsigned for that extra boost to help w/ a wheelie, it should not b used as the replacement for a clucth. i run stock gearing and do more than most stunters. gearing doesn't really matter if u know how to ride. its all about what gear and rpm ur at. even the starboyz say that.
Re: bit of help getting started
yes defineatly learn ur bp. but remenber, every new trick ur bp changes. picture a regular sitdown wheelie, and from the axle of the rear wheel, picture a vetical line going thru that axle. to reach a bp, the weight has to b distributed evenly on either side of that line. for instance, in a seat stander wheelies, ur bodyweight is farther back, putting more weight on one side off the line, the bike therefore has a lower bp to compensate the weight. also when accelerating, slowing (like a coaster, which is a wheelie with the clutch pulled) or staying on a steady throotle, ur bp will change.
