So I just coped a 06 1000rr front end and was wondering if there is anything different I should know about it then the 929/954. I run a 954 front end now but picked up the 1000rr for a REALLY good deal. Do I use the 1000rr bearings and lower triple? And will my hohey top triple still work with GPR? It all looks about the same but I figured Id ask to be safe. Thanks

 

you need to run the 929/954 lower triple with the hohey,and yes the gpr will still work...and the 1000rr forks are really short..so you have to drop them abit to get the closest to stock height you can...

 

Thanks Havok. I measured the forks and they are the same as the 954. Also do I use the 954 bearings or will the 1000rr

 

And the seals like to blow

 

the bearings are the same...i put in some new allballs taperd bearings

Ok guys, got it all set up and looks good except the front wheel being black (oh well for now). Thanks for the help and on a side note for future reference, If you go from 954 front master to 1000rr front master you might need a slightly longer brake line that goes to the left caliper. Well at least I did.

I think u got confused J. I had the 954 front end on my f4i and swapped for a 1000rr.

How is the front fender holding up? I kept breaking the 954 1. Ill post pics up after I bleed the brakes and take it off the jack.

 

My friend just got a brand new 1000rr

He has been rinding about 10-15 years, onyl does freeway wheelies, NO stunt riding, always sets his wheelies down gently.

He blew his seals out in under 500 miles, both of em shot

And hes been riding the same 929's for years, never blown any seals
