Delrin sliders for bar ends???

I have searched around the internet and I was wondering why isn't there bar ends that have delrin sliders on the end of that? I was on ESD's website and didn't see anything for that, maybe someone else knows.

Sure there are I run them on my street and stuntbike, and they are longer then stock....I like them cause they slide well, instead of digging in and causing the bike to flip/tumble..

Also pretty much all aftermarket clipons come with some kind of plastic slider, but they are usually too small and short to do any good...One small crash and they wear away...

These are the long ones I run

Ok, those look pretty good. But I was thinking of the bar end caps that are made of the billet aluminum, but then you can bolt on a small slider... just like the ones that ESD has for the rearsets and rear pegs. Ever seen anything like that?

No but a bar end is such a simple small part why even bother making them out of more then one peice? Whats your reason for wanting 2 parts? They are $9 a set, when they wear down I toss them in the trash....I would rahter have them this way personally, they are simple and only require one bolt to install...Making them out of 2 parts serves no purpose IMO

Re: Delrin sliders for bar ends???

I guess I was just thinking you'd have the durability of a bar end made from aluminum, but then you have a slider that bolts onto it. (it's 2 pieces but uses 1 bolt for the entire assembly) B/c then you can buy the slider pieces instead of the whole thing. And I know, it's $9 and that's not the issue but was just thinking a little differently than having a 1 piece that you have to replace... figured it would be strong but still slide.

That makes sense but will only raise the price, having to machine 2 seperate parts and adding aluminum costs to the mix.....Great idea, just not needed IMO...

Re: Delrin sliders for bar ends???

someone should make bar ends like these, and cut the 45*'s into them, like they do for Sick Innovation's cage sliders so that ppl with dirtbike bars can use them..... im tired of cracking throttle tubes

Seriously, I did feel like a newb asking this question but the way I'm thinking of it I can't find anywhere. All I see are 1 piece designs, I can't find a 2 piece design like what I have in mind.

PS: Dick!

You must be getting Cauliflower ear from fighting B/C YOU AREN'T HEARING ME!!

There are a hundred shops here that carry thousands of bar ends, but I'm talking about a 2 piece design. Take ESD's bar ends (go to their website and look at their bar ends), but then put a small delrin slider cap on the end of it (just like their rear set pegs and pass. pegs) so then when you fall you can just replace the delrin slider and the bar end is still protected by an aluminum cap so that it doesn't smash throttle tubes and **** like that.

Now go get an insulin needle and drain that **** out of your ear so you can hear me this time SQUID!!!

Do you really need a 2 piece design? What's the advantage? I have the ebay cheapies linked above on my bike, but I cut them down as much as possible so they wouldn't break my clipons.

Thats what Im screaming, pegs are 2 peice for a reason. Cause you need an alumimnum peg for strength but a plastic slider to wear away and slide, but I dont see the point in having a 2 peice bar end.... Why pay more $$ and complicate something that doesnt have to be.....Your bar is alumnim and the slider is derlin, why do you need more aluminum?

Isn't the point of them to absorb a little bit of the impact? Aluminum will just transfer the impact into the clipon.

I guess it would absorb some impact too, but more then anything they are there to slide and wear away...Its not like they will save your bars from bending, if you hit them hard enough even with derlin slider on the end your still going to bend bars...Derlin is a pretty hard plastic

Oh yeah for sure it helps, Im just saying is not going to prevent bent bars competley....I run my clipons pretty tight but with no locating tabs, and even with the bar end sliders if I drop it hard enough the bars still rotate on the forks...

i am hearing you calamari, they already make those. they are the only bar ends that i have ever used, i forgot the manufacturer, but they are aluminum with a delrin slider. you can see them in this pic, but you cant see the aluminum that well.

Re: Delrin sliders for bar ends???

I've run just regular old bar ends before... the plastic kind, the slider kinds, the aluminum kind and all of them have crushed the end of my throttle tube. And even on hard falls, the plastic bar ends (like the ones you showed me on Ebay Johnny) worked OK, but I still ended up having to replace my throttle tube. The aluminum bar ends I've run before snapped and they saved my throttle tubes, but f'd up my clipon. However, the plastic ones crushed f'in up my throttle tube but saved my clipon. It seemed like a no win battle.

I was thinking of having an aluminum cap with an 1/8" of inch between the bar end (or throttle tube) and the aluminum cap which will give it strength. So now you have a strong aluminum cap to protect the end of your bar, but bolt on (or screw on, or however) the end cap which is about 1/2" of delrin so it slides. No more crushed throttle tube from the aluminum cap, and no more broken clips or whatever else b/c the delrin will slide.

See what I'm saying?
