Front fenders

Am I the only one who's front fender falls apart when you look at it wrong?

I got 2 of the 4 bolt holes left on my fender now and its about half there. Im ready for another one but my luck i'll bust it up after 1 drop. And even shitty rashed or cracked ones on ebay are going for way too much $$ not to mention the exaggerated shipping costs. Anyone else's fenders crack with a quickness when you drop the bike?

Rock Fenderless? Thought about it but looks kinda gay to me. Heard it can be dangerous too. Anything stronger out there?

Re: Front fenders

Hmmm..... mine is jacked up but its been that way since I bought it.....

you could try a fiberglass one or spend the coin for a carbon fiber one but no guarantees that it wont crack.

one idea I have which would be cheap......

get yourself a decent used stock fender, sand the underside well, and reinforce it with fiberglass cloth and some good epoxy. the longer the dry time on the epoxy the stronger it is.

its worth a shot!

Re: Front fenders

If you don't mind painting it then I would build up the top of the fender instead of the bottom. Obviously, you could put more material on the top.

Do you have a couple of old fenders? pm me if you want to get rid of them cheap.

Re: Front fenders

there is plenty of room on the bottom for multiple layers, but I think if it still wants to break... its gonna break!

one more thing.... if you do this with a fender that is still in good shape.... after putting the fiberglass and epoxy on, you can use rubbing alcohol to clean any epoxy off the top before it has dried.

Re: Front fenders

Just drill some holes in it and ziptie it on so you can get a little more use out of it if the tabs are broken. Also I wouldn't rock without a front fender just so your not kicking a bunch of **** up to the radiator and **** it up and cause it to leak.

Re: Front fenders

Fiberglass front fenders are ******* great if you have a problem with them braking. Well...at least the one I got from cheetah flexed so it never cracked on me ever again.

i got a cheetah front fender for my f3, but it when i showed up, the holes were off a lot....like a quarter-inch too close to the other bolt, but it never snapped....flexed nicely. and as far as my old, cracked plastic one, epoxy when it cracked made it sit together nicely:YEAH

Re: Front fenders

my fender looks alot worse than yours. Its got about 10 zipties on it already and the back is broken off completely. its like half a fender. I think Ill just give it hell a little longer but ill hafta bite the bullet eventually cuz its guna be useless soon enough. I think something that would flex would be key to keeping it in 1 piece. or get nutty and reinforce as was mentioned. could go either way i guess..
