I hate painting
Re: I hate painting
the dual slider mod? no i don't have it yet i need to order the extra sliders then find someone to weld it for me......actually my frame/swing arm/sub frame is what i really wanna get powdered.
I want a sexy *** black....i dunno what all you can do with powder coating but i think it would look sick with that metal flake in it then i wanna do white plastics

Re: I hate painting
i used aircraft paint stripper on my front fender sides and it work perfect and didn't hurt the plastic at all
06 636 has the two plastic pieces that bolt to the side of the fender , it is a different type of plastic then the fender i think

Re: I hate painting
I decided to strip my tank for bondo/paint about a month ago.. What a pain in the ***!
Took 2 cans of aircraft stripper, and a LOT of work with a plastic scraper..
Took about 10 coats of stripper total, and there was still a few small spots of paint left

But my tank had like 4 paint jobs on it lol
Re: I hate painting
I want it to look good and I'm doing like 4 or 5 layers of clear coat. It might not of been that long but it sure felt like it.

Hell yeah brake cleaner takes it right the **** off.
I'm using 3 cans of brake cleaner to just do that little plastic piece

One thing about that ****, if you have multiple layers of paint, expect taht **** to take ALLL DAY!

Re: I hate painting
i think your leaving the stripper on too long and letting it dry , you need to get it off while it is still wet and then apply another coat ..
if you let it dry it will make the paint that is left hard as hell to get off

Re: I hate painting
it was all still rubbery/wet i think there just isn't enough acetone in brake cleaner to do it right but i didn't want to risk damaging the plastic.
Re: I hate painting
damn that sucks about your paint. i know how you feel, i get impatient when i paint to. you should have just sanded out the smerr in the paint an scuffed the rest and repianted it. would have saved you a lot of time an came out better
Re: I hate painting
he would have to wait for the paint to dry before sanding and since he put so many coats of clear i think stripping it is what i would have done also
Re: I hate painting
painted what? my tank?
Re: I hate painting
yeah but strippin it is a mess and hard to deal with. it would have only takin 2 to 3 hours to dry then he could have sanded it for 10 min and painted it an been done the same night.
