Re: 07 zx6r motor noise

it wasnt for the first little while but it got pretty bad. He has a power comander to and the map was all fucked up. So i cant say if it was just the valves.. when we took the head off we found that a couple of the valves wernt closing all the way. Could have been a more serious problem then what you have.

Any idea what caused it? I'm getting alot of noise from my K5 and its been slowly getting worse over the last few weeks. It doesn't seem to be effecting performance at all tho.

I think I'm going to take it apart soon. At least pull the valve cover off and take a look.

Re: 07 zx6r motor noise

we couldnt really figure it out. maybe bad gas, bad oil, or just shitty quality from the factory. but we took all the valves out, cleaned them real well. put in better valve seals. and a thiner head gasket.

Thanks for the reply. I'll just have to take it apart and see. As long as the valves don't touch the pistons I guess I'll be ok.

Re: 07 zx6r motor noise

Sounds good man. I didn't even think about the cct tho. Are my valves manu or self adjusting? My dad was saying he thought they should be self, but iono and I don't have money for a Hayne's.

Re: 07 zx6r motor noise

ur talkin about the kawi tick... so i assume. kawis make a ton of noise in the valvetrain, u only have 2000 miles so im assuming nothing should be mechanicaly wrong... either way u have a warranty if u got it from the dealer. if its the same head design as the 06 it should quiet itself down after some miles. when they set the valves they have to set them loose because as they wear the valves should tighten up making a lil less noise. and the injectors tick pretty loud as well
