Moving to San Deigo, scared
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
Schmack moved out there and now has $60ish in his pockets and is up a creek with no paddle. Kip however has not moved, so not only can he plan it out but he can also figure out a back up plan just in case plan "A" goes sour. All I'm saying to Kip is that he should do it, just think it through instead of numb-nuts who just picked up, packed up, moved out and is living like a bum. Some people like to live at a higher standard... some obviously don't care.
Ive done the same thing except i got a job before i moved to a new area. always came back to SD though. aint no other city like it. although its refreshing to move to a different area for like 6 month to a year just to get away. i might move up to the bay in the future just to get out of SD for a hot minute again. who knows!

A: STFU newbie... July 2007 is your join date, you have a WHOPPING 5 posts and you don't know HALF the **** we know about Kelm and all of his bullshit. Do some thread digging and figure out why we give Kelm so much ****.
B: You moved and look at the situation you are in. REAL ****** SMART!!!
C: Kip, do it.. move to San Diego just make sure you have a back up plan. That's my

But if you must know more of the story...
First, sure I'm new to stunt life everyone was at on time, but just cause I normally choose not to post on this drama ridden site doesn't mean I don't keep tabs. I wasn't exactly defending the kid, least I didn't mean to. Give him all the **** you want, I was mostly pointing out that this isn't the thread for that. The only reason I even posted on this thread myself is cause I just moved from MN and Kip is a good buddy of mine. I hate to see him (or anyone) pass up a chance like this.
Second, the situation I am in is really smart from my point of view. I'm an engineer by day and have wanted to mave back to San Diego for 7 years now. I came out here for some Job interviews, can't do the interviews if i'm not here. Simple as that. Is it risky? Sure, but it is worth the risk to me. I'm confident in my abilities to land a job. Besides, if i'm homeless in SoCal, at least I'm in SoCal! Still beats the MN winter.
And on that note, i think Nasty made a good point. If **** doesn't work out, a guy can always return home. Where is everyones sense of adventure these days? Why wouldn't someone with no ties not want to take a chance, to experience life if nothing else?
Just my opintion.

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
So wow has this really blown up!
Thanks Sic J for chiming in.
Mr. Farley you obviously don't know me! I am all about the living the higher standard, from my truck to my toys, i'm pretty materialistic actually. But can't land a good job out here if i don't come out here. I'm willing to be the bum for now if that is what it takes. Sadly, the having a job lined up thing before coming is easier said then done. I have one locked down already (as of yesterday), but waiting to hear back from a better job offer (in my opinion) before I accept anything. And the grand in my pocket was moving cash. I sold some toys and paid up all my bills (truck payment, ect) for 2 months in advance before I left to releive the stress a little.
So now lets get back to the topic at hand. Supporting Kip!

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
san diego's aight. i lived i chula vista for a while, but mexico's right there, good and bad depending on what ur into.
The mexicans out there arent like the ones on the east coast though, they pretty much run **** out there, so stay away from the gangs.
ps: also spent a few months on and off in st. paul MN, so yeah its a drastic change!

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
I don't think you need to waste your money flying out first bro, but however it works out i should be settled in by the time your ready. Sadly it looks like Chula Vista. I hate that place, but that is where the job is.
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
move out man diego is only about 45 minutes away from our kick *** spot check out onterio san berdino redlands citys in the I.E or inland impier might be cheaper and there plenty jobs
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
I went to the riverside spot last Sunday and NO ONE was there. Stunted by myself for like a hour then Rome and Randie showed up. About 2 hours later some ruff ryders showed up. I was surprised no one was really there cuz the weather was PERFECT starting at about 6pm.
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
dude what ru talking about? chula vista is like 10 mins from downtown san diego, ru one of those people who pay double rent just to live right in the middle of the ****? or is a 10 min commute unbearable to get to your job?

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
And to make me look even worse to some of you, i was one of those guys who believed you never live south of the 8! Guess it is time for a change in my attitude.
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
dont be skeered man. ive made a few ld moves in the past and its really not hard. if you want to test the waters you could put most of your stuff in storage and just rent a small trailer for your bike and clothes and what not. once your settled and things are looking up bring the rest there and if not its not a huge pain in the *** moving everything back. making big moves like that does suck though so i think its easier to bring the important stuff and in like 6mo youll have given it enough time to know if its the right deal. anywhere you go there are jobs and places to live. look how many people are already there.
Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
I used to live in Escondido, and then moved to Mira Mesa and i was really happy with that. I understand how close Chula Vista is to everything (and I hear there is a great spot down that way too) and the quick commute is what is attracting me to the area, but I'm used to my old commulity I guess. I have checked out some places, but nothing that compared to my old house. Call me snooty, but I want a back yard with grass for my dog and a 2 or 3 car garage for all my toys. To be fair, I'm sure they exist, I just haven't had any luck finding anything yet.

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
45 mins my ***! Try at least a hour and 15 mins with no traffic. And that's from north San diego. From where he's at its gonna be like a 2 hour drive. Or he can drive 5 mins to the pretty damn good spot in SD.

(diego)
MN sucks, plain and simple. It's going to be hard to turn professional if I can't stunt ******* 4 months out of the year. I have two friends that stunt and are planning on moving with me. How's the job situation looking out there? I know buying houses are expensive but renting with a few buddies seems manageable, 500ish/month?
I'm really scared to do this, leave the family and friends behind but 80 and sunny with no humidity sounds right up my alley. Any of you just pack your **** up and move? any advice?
Plans........buy a hitch for my wrx and a small trailer and haul my bike, bed, and booze with me. buy a Glock. anything else? maybe a 3k loan to tide me over?

Re: Moving to San Deigo, scared
Oh he is still scared! He has to come out for a week to sample it before he can make his decision.
His reasoning is that he just got promoted and makes 30k a year now and he just can't see San Diego being worth giving up such a good job!
