Stunting...what else can i do?
Stunting...what else can i do?
ok first ill start off with a question about my handbrake.....its super stiff and doesn't feel near as strong as my foot...is this normal?? feels like i have to use two fingers pretty solid to save my ***..second off...what all can i do to reinforce the subframe?? i already flipped my clip ons... i got a cage and a 12 bar anything that breaks easy on the 05 636 or anything else you would do?
Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
First off
Can you ride UNDER 10mph, with stock gearing, FOREVER?
Not, can you get it up at 10, and ride it out to 20-30.. can you slow it down, and literally KEEP IT UNDER 10?
If not, forget the 12 bar, forget the hand brake, learn to rock idle with no throttle input...
If you can rock idle.. Can you scrape tail? If you can't scrape tail plastic, or a round bar, GET RID OF THE 12 bar! IMO it will only hurt you...
If you can scrape, you can rock idle, then its time to worry about your hand brake..
What is your current hand brake setup?
And if your not gorilla scraping, I think the sub frame will be fine.. Of course if you loop it hard, it might get destroyed!

Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
i understand your asking me this because you don't know me..but im not the new guy that says hey i think i want to stunt haha when i had my gix i could rock idles and scrape 12...and i was doing spreaders bp and ss bp without a hb. my handbrake setup is a zx6r master ran into my rear brake master.
Cause if you can scrape and ride idle, then you definitely are ready for a good HB
but if you can't (like most people that jump into a hb before they are ready) then you dont need a hb or any parts IMO
What year zx6r master?
And you just have like a gp tech/ FTI adapter?
Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
using stock masters ur going to find they have a stiff feel to them, if its hard to lock up, u may still have some air in the line or need new pads. also try scuffing up your rotor and brake pads with some like 120 grit sand paper, should help a little bit. i dont use a 12 bar on mine i just use the exhuast. if u want more feel for a hb go with a 16x18 i ran that for 8 months and it was real nice but ive switched to a magura 13mm, has a little less feel then the brembo but a little more power and i like it alot.

Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
Is the 02/03 master a radial?
If not, just stepping up to a radial might help
I'm sure the magura and brembo are SICK, but I know plenty of people that get by on factory radials..
And a factory radial used can usually be had for $60-$100 instead of the typical $200+ price tag on brembo/magura

Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
Lots of people run 1000rr masters and other masters, just as long as they are radial...
I ran a non radial like you have now, and I looped out my FIRST time trying idle!! All my force with 1 finger, it just looped from 3500 idle..
My FIRST day (only had 1 day of practice so far due to weather) with a zx10r radial master, I cut SS circles, and was rocking idle spreaders..
Now I only got like 15 attempts in with my HB before my motor fucked up and wadded me...
But it is definietly possible to use a cheap radial and have good success
but of course, a brembo/magura will give you better feel and braking force....
When it comes down to it though, a dual caliper setup with a cheap radial will probably have more force then any brembo/magura setup, but probably wont have as much feel
Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
Nope I've personally never tried them, but if you mean others, yes dozens of them!

Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
theyre all radial...which is better would be a matter of opinion but i know the 1000rr front brakes i had on my f4i had tons of power compared to the kawis have less power but alot more feel......sooo a matter of preference.
Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
If your bike is the 05-06 636 like mine, then your subframe is garbage and the best options I have found so far are to run a racing905 12 bar (round or flat) since it has provisions to transfer the energy to the box tubing of the subframe instead of the cast part at the back, and add a subcage of any brand to add more support to the whole tail section. Make sure to tighten the top subframe bolts pretty much every time you ride.
As far as the hand brake goes, if you are trying a lot of hb tricks, this is where you should invest in a good setup. I have ran a normal master like you have now, then I went to the newer radial style, then to a Brembo 16x18, I have ridden a bike with a Magura, and I am currently awaiting the new Full Throttle set up in the mail. Each of these had a significant advantage over the one before it and I hope that the New FTI is another step up.
If you are going to buy a new master for your current set up, I recommend the Magura. It has the best feel and plenty of power. I think the Brembo and Magura are very similar but the Magura has a better feel to it with more play before lockup.
I run one finger on hb and one on the clutch for ss coasters (I'm not that great at them yet, butthat is the way to do it)

Re: Stunting...what else can i do?
could you use one finger comfortably in coasters?
