im doing my 3rd 05/06 tank tnight. they go in real easy, i like to start it with my feet, using my heel standing up on the bike facing the tail and stomp it with my heel in back of the cap itll its sunk down a little. then use a deadblow hammer. hopefully u find one thats rubber and not the hard plastic and just spread the dent down and back. just make sure to start the dent behind the cap and move back from there. its real easy.

Make sure the fuel is low or gone.
Start the dent with the heel of your sneakers
fine tune it with a deadblow
use some fiberglass bondo, sand and paint.

Stay away from hitting the top of the cap and letting the front dip down. You will have an ugly gap between the plastic cover and the tank.

Yes, That is where I started. The tank is super soft so will not have to beat it to death. I just hate when I see them sag at the front against the plastic cover.
