If the biker was interviewed he will ultimately be screwed. They will certainly try to turn it around on him. If the cop was going 120+ so was the biker and even though he didnt cause it the cops will try everything that they can. FTP and I hope he serves hard time

Re: Why shouldn't cops chase bikes?

It is nice to see a cop being charged for his actions. Too many of them have whats called a "god complex". They get so used to getting away with everything they develope a pattern of compulsive lies and coersion. My tax dollars at work. I know some cool cops and they know they cant catch a bike so why try. Those guys are more concerned with the other peoples safety. So this cop was chasing a speeder for what? to give him a ticket so he can pay the city/ state? Big finger to all those cops out there who try and be super cop.

Re: Why shouldn't cops chase bikes?

i see cops as just big cash sucking machines. whoever thinks they dont have a quota to meet is on crack. around here it seems to be around the 8th of every month where they start gettin ruthless. it aint about safety or anything else, its just about collecting money from your pockets and giving it to the state. conspiracy theory? no its the damn truth.

IDK he might get lucky when the reporter said that the only way they can chase in Maryland is if the motorists attempts to harm an officer or a pedestrian. So in his case he might come out of it with like a ticket.

Yeh i feel the 250,000 but not to defend him, some cops are ok but very few. +1 to the innocent people that got hurt that's no good

I hate that ****, i feel the exact way it's like the skateboarding video i saw the other day on here, it reminded me of what we have to go through on a daily basis along with skateboarders and other extreme sports, cops hate it and the only conclusion i can come up with is they are ******* ******

Re: Why shouldn't cops chase bikes?

Let's look at what is on the table here for the guy on the bike,

a chase ensued and 2 innocent people ended up dying..

all the cop has to say is he was driving to endanger,

yada yada yada, i'd say that's an attempt to harm someone(in the jury's eyes).

I am no legal expert, but I doubt all he will get is a ticket.

Hopefully the rider was just some enormous squid that knew how to scrape knee, if that.

Re: Why shouldn't cops chase bikes?

I know KC has a no chase ordinance, but I really think everywhere should. I car isn't going to catch a bike, and all chasing does is endanger lives, esp. the guy on the bike, if he's not experienced and runs, that's a huge risk. No chase should be everywhere.

I think they have a rule like that here in ST.joe also

still didn't stop a cop from chasing a biker at over 100mph in the RAIN at midnight on a 40mph road, without a seat belt and ride a ridealong with him..
He ended up wrecking and killing himself

And to top it all off.. They 're-wrote' the chase policy around here... And now "cops are advised not to chase, but can make the judgment based off what they think is best"
Sounds like the same exact policy they had before.. Putting cops in the decision making roll when they are a hypde up and chasing a guy

Re: Why shouldn't cops chase bikes?

i remember this story... it was all over the news and papers. i think that a chase law should be enforced in every state. which would not allow officers to chase a bike unless it was used in a physical. speeding on a bike does not justify a high speed chase resulting in an accident like this....

i know in philly they will run u off the ******* road, just cause you are on a street bike.... happened to me twice last year. i didn't have a tag on and the cop tried to literally run me over. and the fucked up thing is that they are instructed to do so...!!! i know cops that work in the district i ride in, and it is true....
