Re: Plug a tire?

use a big c-clamp to break the bead and then if you dont have a set of tire spoons, use 2 big flat head screw drivers or pry bars. careful not to mess up the bead of the tire! take off your brake rotors so you dont bend them on the ground. also use like wd40 or something like that to spray around the tire bead when putting it back on. it makes it alot easier

Re: Plug a tire?

I've plugged almost all of my rear tires and a couple of fronts, no problems, my buddy was riding home after he had just taken off one cuz it had a screw in it, we turned on this road that a box of screws had fallen on and he picked up another screw. he plugged that one and gave me his first one

plugs are more of a quick fix, a patch is a much better idea. i used to go down to my local cycle shop and get the take-off's that people were afraid to ride with because they got a nail in the tire, most of the time they were minty.

i went down to my local cycle gear and bought two tire irons for $15. it takes me 5 minutes to change my tire. the hardest part is breaking the bead, i put the edge of my ramp on the tire and drive up it with my girls honda.

Re: Plug a tire?

why is it the only time you get a nail in your tire is when its brand new, not 2 years old showing belts?

that why i always get other peoples new/used tires and patch them, so you dont have to worry about that.
