best/easiest way to bleed a handbrake system

ok......mr. colton taught me this so i can't take all the credit, but since it's winter out and you may not be riding your bike.....simply take a zip tie and zip tie the hand brake lever to the bar....walk away and fill the cup daily.....it will be rock hard the next time you want to ride again.....i have bled an entire handbrake system without spilling a DROP of brake fluid.

oh yeah.....and full throttle all the way fellas......bill is a genius.:YEAH

Nothing agsinst you, but it amazes me the things that I read on here as the "latest and greatest" tricks to working on your bike that I always did as just normal routine maitenence... And I'm not all that good at working on bikes

Just yesterday I read an awesome trick to make your clutch easier to pull. Ready for it? It was to lube your clutch cable. lol

Brakefluid is known to suck all the damp that is in the air which will make the brake fluid to boil easier. That is why it usually says on the side of the brakefluid bottle that you shouldnt use it 14 days after you opened the bottle.

+1

I've always heard with brake fluid, you should NEVER leave the bottle open, and once you use a bottle, you should trash it, and buy a new bottle next time you need it..

Personally I use my break fluid bottles tell they are empty, but I always make sure if I left a bottle open I don't use it..

but I dunno how much moisture would really get in, and it probably depends on humidity levels... But if its raining outside, you won't see me bleeding my brakes haha

Something about moisture collecting in your open res... The moisture or water wants to sink to the bottom...

Water is made out of what...?

Do you mean zip tie your hb to the bar then wait a day (for the system to slowly push air down towards the caliper), then open the system to release the air??

Re: best/easiest way to bleed a handbrake system

brake fluid is hydroscopic meaning it absorbs moisture but just opening the bottle long enough to fill your master doesn't mean you need to throw the rest of the brake fluid away ,it doesn't instantly absorb moisture it takes time ..

as long as you have the cap on the bottle while it's stored it wil last a very long time , i mean think about it when you bleed the brakes on your car the system is open for a good 20 or 30 minutes and that brake fluid is still good some times for years..

leaving the cap off your res over night shouldn't be a problem either as long as it is in a warm dry place like a garage but i wouldn't leave it open if it is in a place that is damp or out side over night

Re: best/easiest way to bleed a handbrake system

Def an old school trick. Bill at full throttle told me to do that when I had problems bleeding my hb on my gsxr.

So you guys really think that lubing the clutch cable actually works?? Lol
