My buddy has got a 03-04 636. The tank is leaking around the cap. It had a stock cap and now a Vortex and it still leaks. Any ideas?
Could it be a flaw in the tank dent?
Need to get this sorted out and I know somebody has had this issue so...help a brother out

i hope not....

 

mine did the same thing. i used to right stuff [ black not the gray] and it stoped it. just take the cap off and put around the cap on the bottom. the right stuff can be found at any auto parts stores.

 

quik steel the drain hole up top it probly cracked the tube that runs inside the tank from denting it... did it to mine and no more leaky

Yeah cover up the drain vent under the cap, my old tank leaked cuz of that, and my new one leaks but I don't think from there. I heard there is some pressure release set screws you can take out in the vortex... Gotta figure this out.

 

Dont all 636 tanks leak well atleast everyone i have seen do

 

if the vent tube is cracked it will leak out the vent tube , if you seal the vent hole at the top of the tank and it is cracked below then it will still leak out the vent tube......

there also needs to be some sort of vent so if you plug the hole then seal your cap you will build pressure in the tank and thats no good for your fuel system not to mention it will probably leak more this way because when there is pressure in the tank it will push gas out the cap whaen ever you do a stoppie or a wheelie

 

my 03 tank leaks....i get gas on my dick, *****, and ***...its a chemical burn that says "hello your ur tank leaks fix me" so i am goona double up on gaskets and hope that does it.

the burn is insane when its on your junk or ***

 

yea i made a gasket to go behind the stock one and it works, leaks sometimes with a wreak but thats it

 

+1 gas on the sack suck's, but i think its a cure for AIDs

ROTFL!!!! you said it brother!!! i drove like 100 mph home to **** the gas outta my dick and take a cold shower...true story

 

I just made a gasket. You can buy gasket material in sheets and cut your own gaskets out of it. I did it on both 636s and no leaks yet.

 

i got these orange rubber sheets from homedepot, but it can still leak out of the cap drain if inside the tank is messed up
