putting fiberglass in tail, which kit to buy?

Alright I wanna reinforce my tail, so I went out to the parts store, they got about 3 fiberglass kits. All made by bondo, couldnt figure out which one I needed, so decided to wait lol....


anyways, theres three kinds and I'm wondering which one I need.

Fiberglass repair kit



Fiberglass resin kit



Fiberglass resin jelly kit

you need the one with the fiberglass cloth in it.

i used #2 and got the cloth seperate

You need polyester laminating resin (which will come with the catylist/hardener) and some fiberglass matte or cloth. The matte is more forgiving for curved surfaces

the fiberglass resin kit is the one i used for my race tail. it comes with the cloth

thanks for the help guys, guess I'm going with the fiberglass resin kit, and getting some extra cloth

Well, that and I reinforce all the tabs with plastic epoxy from my shop so they NEVER break

Ah, nice. I actually shaped the wood so that it took every millimeter of space. I guess the fiberglass would do the same thing

my tail keeps denting in and i have to bust out my heat gun to pop the dent back out. i like this wood block idea.

hell yeah it is, Troy brought out your old f4i to the spot saturday night. I checked it out and that tail felt sooooooooooo strong, this is exactly why I decided to do it. Gonna put a good bit of layers, and then do the wood trick too.

You cut a piece of wood the correct thickness and length and jam it under the tail between the front and back seat. It takes the flex out of the tail when doing SS'ers.
