Why are there a select few that hate regearing?

Often I read comments on forums where people knock on regearing the bike. They say that if you can't do the trick with stock gearing then you can't do the trick (it doesn't count). I've read lots of comments like this. I've seen OMG's video on youtube that he rocks it with stock gearing which is awesome. But who cares if I regear my bike. Sure it's easier and not as challenging but I still don't get why people care. Stunting has enough challenge even with a geared bike. Streetfighterz on their videos seem to mostly have regeared bikes. I'd be interested to see a poll on this, who thinks it ought to be stock and who doesn't care. I think it is just a select few that are **** about keeping the bike with stock gearing.

there's a few that are **** about anything and everything....

Gear that bitch and have some god damn fun... who gives **** what others say you "should or should not" do.

Big gearing is fun as hell and if you were at a recent XDL pro event you'd see 8 out of 10 competetors bikes had large sprockets... and the other 2 had HUGE ones.

Just playin...

Get a hb and learn that too... BUT just don't forget about the foot brake and learn that too just as well... it's all part of the larger bag of tricks.

Wow, I just realized that stuntlife doesn't have me listed as a newbie anymore. I wish I didn't ride like a newbie anymore. That really is me an the R1. I know it's a weak sauce endo. I bought an F4 a month ago and I'm going to practice all winter so I'm not such a poser.

its just nice have a stock bike with a handbrake when some squid pulls up next to you with all kinds of **** that he doesnt need (i.e bar, handbrake, flipped, clip-ons, etc, basically full on stuntbike) make a power wheelie then look at you like im so cool. then at the next stop light you split his wig with a stock bike and make him feel like the ***** piece of calamari that he is.

your post count is a representation of your riding ability, so youre still a squid.

my same thoughts bike i got now is a little far gone to put back to stock it's my throwdown do work bike. next thing i'm getting is a minty piece handbrake and gearing only to ride with the twisty/squid/newb bitches and split there wig when they don't even see it comin.

i'm thinkin new r6 or zx6

Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?

My R1 is -1 +2. I just don't see much point in having such a tall first gear. It goes about 100mph in first with stock gearing. With my gearing it tops out at about 160mph and I can wheelie it sooooo easy. Even a squid like me can do it for blocks as slow as 15mph. I doubt I'll be splitting any wigs though. It is just a standered sit down wheelie. But I do slip the clutch. I don't do the power wheelies. But like I said, give me till spring, I'll destroy my F4 in the lots, then I'll buy an F4i and be posting videos for ya'll so you can learn. hahahahaha. Something like that. I'm pretty good on a quad, but stuntin on the streets is soooooooooo much cooler. That's why I'm starting.

Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?

a lot of people advise against gearing for different reasons. a TON of new squids come on here brand new to stunting and are asking about +15 gearing. This is when most people say dont do that **** YET. If your NEW..why change up your gearing....there will be a lot more pull....its more twitchy then stock gearing....etc.

Were still not saying DONT change sprocket size...i think its a good idea once your past the starter point. you see many of the pros with pizza pan sprockets which o.k.. there in the lots...doin slow shyt..and it makes it hella easier to get it up. gearing up is not cheating...its just another modification you can make. although i do agree if you can't ride bp yet....dont ****** gear up untill you got it on lock.

Most squids just want to gear up because there ****** gay and thats what the pros do so thats why they want to. gear up when your ready.:YEAH

Very true....

I should've added that to my original post...... learn the basics first, balance point and most importantly rear brake (FOOT BRAKE).... even idle.... THEN gear up.

Sure you can learn everything on stock but why bother. I can still hop on a stocker and do most of the same things I'm doin now (after a while of practicing and getting used to it of course)... but it's not half as fun as the stunt gearing w/ wide clipons and nice tank dent.

Circles on stock gearing are not magic. If you chose to "be cool" and go back to stock after you get good.... do it.

Just do it to have fun and not because it's cool and "everybody else is doin it".

i got a HUGE sprocket i just put the stock gear back on and made the stock attack clip to shut some one up

and i think if your gonna have a lot bike then **** it gear it up because if you learn on a stock gear your gonna have to start over again when you do gear it up so why not learn on the gear your gonna run....

I'll gladly take your advice. You're da' man. Too bad your not in Utah to give me a few pointers. We've got mormon churchs on about every corner with HUGE parking lots. It's stuntlife heaven. Parking lots everywhere with excellent snow removal.
