Why are there a select few that hate regearing?
Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?
im a minimalist, i dont like huge sprockets. i think they look funny, i dont call it "cheating" cuz i dont find having bigger gears any easier for anything. i just like my bike to be as close to stock looking and feeling as i possibly can and only do things that i really NEED to have in order to do things. i dont need a +15 sprocket. i ride so much street cuz thast where i started and thats where i roll 90% of the time so my bike stays as close to a street bike as i can to keep it comfy. i dont like being tached out at 9 and 10k rpms on the highway. all in all if u like big gears who gives a **** what i like but i always recomend starting stock and working your way up to where u want to be.
Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?
the concept of learning how to wheelie carries from stock to geared.....it gives you more throttle control and in my opinion helped me learned faster and better
i got to bangin standups and clutchin into bp and even some ss, then got a "stunt" f4i identical to my street killa, geared it,+10, dented tank, and learned more ****; hcs, spreaders, ss.....
then took all the fairings off and geared it more and threw a hb on....
Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?
Gearing isn't going to magically help you learn a certain trick.. if you can do it on a geared bike, you can do it on a stocker, and vice versa. I usually let the local biker guys take the stunt machine for a spin. It's hilarious cuz it's an absolute wheelie machine.. pretty much does em by itself. Yet they still power it out a couple feet off the ground and slam the front end down when they chop the gas. I ****** love it.
I learned on stock too. learned circles on stock as well... won't ever go back though.

people always say ' i could do that if i had all that hardware on my bike'
i love my sleeper stuntbike, full factory plastics, chrome rims, mirrors, signals.... just a titanium roundbar, cage and handbrake
I put a chain guard on mine, makes it look a lil more stock

to me a squid is somethat that buys a brand new 1000rr or R1.. goes out in a tshirt and shorts and goes 150 mph.. then picks up the hottest girl. and kills her.
CJake is a stunter in the making.. your not a poser. compared to alot of people on here.. at least you address the issue where your expience is at. and your looking to people help put you on the road to success.
I rocked whoolies and endos - etc. on stock geared bikes.. One day i decided after meeting a bunch of crazy local stunters that this is all I want to do..
So I bought a bike from one of them with a 64 tooth sproket.. crashed it 100000 times.. and im still to this day trying to do half the **** they can..
props to you.. and continue trying to whoolie and when you wanna gear up..
go 1 down.. 2-3 up
if you wanna do slow ****.. id recommend more in the back. and forget about the front..

late edit: didnt know your bike was already geared 1 down 2 up.. your ahead of me on this one.. more to the rear my friend. id deffinitly recommend buyin a 600 somehting and gearin up the back hella..

Re: Why are there a select few that hate regearing?
I understand this better now. To be a good stunter you ought to be able to hop on anything and rock it. Even an old 80's bike should do cirles right? It gives people no excuse to not be able to do what you can do. Makes sense. But I'll regear. Nobody in my town stunts that I know of and I like to impress the ladies. I doubt they're checking out my big sprocket when I wheelie.

my f4i is like +4 in rear or something like that.. i took off the chain guard when i bought it from my hommie.. its jus a lil more wrist on the clutch is all..
once you learn clutch ups.. you can hop on anything and clutch it up.. it jus takes a few launchs to find out what it takes to bring it up.. and only a matter of time to find BP.. which i to this day. still have problems with when i jump on a diff bike.. i cant get on any bike and bring it to bp.. but if i spend a day on it i will
