would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
just about to make the order for a 16x18. i can get a good deal on shipping to aus so im not going through hai cos they want $106 to ship it compared too $35 at moto-madness.com
but this place im goin through is tellin me its an extra $25 for the banjo bolt to suit the brembo where as hai is only $4.99.
so could i just use my bolt out of my existing master?
and is the folding lever worth the extra cash?

First of all the reason they are telling you $25 for a banjo bolt is probably because they think you need one with a brake light/clutch switch built in, and those ones cost $25...Hai knows your going to use this as a HB and that you dont need a brake light or clutch switch, so their giving you a regular banjo bolt for $5...
And no you cannot use a banjo from your existing master....Pretty much all OEM masters use a M10x1.25(coarse thread) thread banjo bolt, but all the aftermarket Brembos use a M10x1.0 (fine thread). If you try to use a 1.25 bolt in the 1.0 threads of the Brembo like Danger_Dave suggests you will **** up your Brembo....

so much MIS-information on the net!!!
Answer, you must use the correct banjo or you WILL ruin your Brembo! if it doesnt thread in EASILY, as in with your fingers, then its the wrong one!
Re: would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
Since hes asking if theres a difference I assume hes never had a Brembo or anything that has ever needed a 1.0 thread pitch banjo bolt, so chances are he will only have 1.25 banjo bolts lying around...And that will only **** up his threads if he tries to use it on the Brembo
Re: would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
that's been the case for me, never had anything myself that needed a 1.25 i've never seen a 1.25 and i've fucked with some brake systems
Re: would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
folding lever is kinda nice if you dump your bike it won't twist the pushrod
those levers are like $100 if you get the authentic Brembo ones. You can get knockoff replacement levers for like $30 though.
if you have the choice, get the stainless steel banjo bolt. it's more durable and i feel like it seals better than the aluminum type.

Ive probably got 50+ 1.25 bolts lying around my shop from working on bikes, installing braided lines and such...And I have maybe 1 or 2 spare 1.0's...
So you should be familiar with 1.25
Re: would a banjo bolt from an 04 r1 master fit a 16x18 brembo master?
Here I tried to take a pic of both, its a new cam so Im still learning how to use it so its not the best pic...You can still see that the threads are differnt...
The 1.25/1.0 is the measurement between the threads 1.0 means the points of the thread are 1mm apart, 1.25 means they are 1.25mm apart....Doenst seem like much but theres a big differnce
The bronze coloured bolt is a 1.0 (fine)
And the silver one is a 1.25 (coarse) Most common
