I've had it on my bike for about a year now. Stole the idea from the euros.
For an f4i you can make it 9mm longer before it can't be reinstalled.

Does 9mm make a noticeable difference?

I've routed my cable so there's nothing touching it and also have an easy pull, but its not quite buttery enough for me.

routing your cable so there is a nice wide arc helps to make your clutch buttery also.. clean and lube the cable once in a while will help too

and yes it can be done on the f4i also but there isn't as much room to make the f4i as long as you can make the 636
Ive had it for a couple years, the europeans have been doing it since the 90s

Definitely noticable. IMO, with the +9mm and the ez pull lever on level 3, it was too easy and there was too much clutch drag during coasters. Right now I have the +9mm and the ez pull lever on setting #2 and I like that the best.

Trying to help you out OMR and make it easier to understand because it took me a second too since I'm bike illiterate. Take the circled piece off the bike and bring it to a welder and have him add 1/2" or 5/8". Not sure of the exact amount because I didnt do it but OMR says 1/2" or 10mm I think it was.

I'm gonna eventually do this mod too. I dont remember where OMR said to cut it - whether its at the top of the arm or the bottom? I think he said dont do it in the middle though. Where did you cut yours Mike or does it not matter? I'm sure OMR will chime in too shortly - when he wakes up anyway.

Add 9mm at the most. Or don't listen, add 15mm, and see what happens.

I remember OMR saying cut it at one end and not the other for leverage or some **** like that.

I did 10 and I had to use a hammer to get the thing back together. It was just barely too long.
Cut it in the middle. Grind the weld smooth and spray paint it. You may have to tweek the angle of the cable guide thing that hold the end of the clutch cable.

hahaha it's funny how people remember things or should i say don't remember things...lol

you can cut it any where on the flat top peice just don't get to close to the part that holds the cable because you don't want to limmit it's range of motion and it will make it hard for you to grind down the weld if you choose to do so and 1/2 inch on a 636 is the minnimun i would extend it and 3/4 is the most the longer the easier but if you go any longer then 3/4 you will run into adjustment problems

I went about 9/16", and the difference is amazing. I could see how 3/4"+ could cause adjustment issues. For a standard recomendation, I think Rog is spot on w/ 5/8". Listen to the Old Man!!!

yep and if you go too much more then 5/8 then you have to start modifying the part that holds the cable to the motor so it doesn't fray the cable
