44 to a 56, on a liter bike......never rode it stock, which slowed my throttle control progression considerably. LOL to Burns post....

i never understood every one always saying learn on stock gear ,to me it makes sense to learn on what your gonna rock because other wise you will just have to relearn once you gear up...i mean for a lot bike any way

Re: what size sprocket did you guys start off with?

i also went up to a 120 tooth:YEAH:YEAH:YEAH

6th gear tops out a about 50mph though. thats the only downside.

the plus side is that it taught me circles, i can only make right turns cause the sprocket is bigger than the tire. I think im gonna go with 1000 pitch and just drive around on my sprocket

43 and 17? Really? I thought it was 45 and 16 stock? I did -1, +2 and it seems fine with your idle up, and I can kill the streets still

Plus motherf*ckin one...... I'm in the middle of re-learning as we speak!

Got a 60 tooth from Geared steel ebay store for like $50 on auction last week cuz the 57 I was procrastinating puttin on was off a buddies bike, and he was running 530 on his 05 gixx.
BTW anyone need a 57 geared 530 sprocket for an 05-07 gixxer??? lol

I used two master links and a chain off a totalled out 06 750 that was one of them frame snapped bikes.lol I basically just made my stock chain longer. and with using my stock front sprocket I got geared for around 50 bucks! heh heh OH and $11 for the master links.... big deal!

I put around 2,000 miles on the bike mainly trying to slow down street wheelies before I geared up. Now it's like I never even put on the 2,000 miles at all! And I guarantee that doin nothing but riding the motard for months at the lot exclusively didn't help me much either, but still....

I agree with OMR. Definately should start out learning on your lot killers with what you plan on running..wish I wouldv'e..... I imagine it will take me the better part of a month to get to the point I'm at on the motard with my newly geared bike. But I wouldv'e never had a chance if I had left that stock sprocket on, my lot isn't big enough....

Good point.... I think it just makes you feel better about yourself quicker on stock.....with gearing, you feel like a slow learner.....lol....like I did.
