Thumbs up replacement frame

got a replacement frame and want to put my numbers on it from the damaged frame. whats is the cheapest solution? buy something to stamp it or take it somewhere? holler

in nj you have to have it restamped by an approved center, and the frame has to be purchased at the dealer, they need a copy of the title to order the frame.

The only "legal" way to put the old numbers on the new frame is to go to your local police department's autotheft unit if they have one and show proof of ownership for the wrecked frame and documentation from buying the new one. They will acquire a new vin tag and install it for you. They may or may not also stamp it. If they do not have an autotheft unit, hit up your local highway patrol. Or you could do what I'm sure the vast majority do and just have someone with a stamp set restamp it for you. You'll probably never run into any type of problem.
