I'm posting this here cause it seems to get the most views instead of the repair section. My F4i is givin me an FI light when I'm ridin...most of the time, the bike rides good tho it seems. I was wonderin if there are several things that could be the problem of this or is it something specific I can already pinpoint? Any help would be appreciated, I'd like to catch it early as possible so it doesn't **** anything else up.

 

It could be a number of things. I'm not sure how to get FI codes off an F4i but I'm sure someone will post up how. Once you know what FI code your getting then you'll know what to fix. If its running good and your getting the code its probably something stupid with exhaust sensor or something.

well since people are talkin about f4i's i got a 2002 and it seems like its lagging when i excellerate hard anyone got any idea's what it could be?

 

mine did that i changed the plugs and ran some sea foam threw it now it makes good power, the cam chain makin a little noise on engine brake

 

is that from an online manual if so do you have a link?

just had the cam chain tensioner replaced like a month ago so hopefully its not that but ill try some sea foam

 

I'm not seein any blinks on it. I start it and it idles low like it would as a standard sportbike would. Then after maybe a min, the idle jumps up to about 2000ish to where I have it set and then my FI light just comes on, and stays on the entire time I ride it. My cooling fan is hooked up again right so its not overheating, nor is it gettin super hot abnormally fast or anything. I dunno, should I be worried? Can it be taken to a shop and plugged into a reader like you can with vehicles? And I don't have a kil switch anymore on mine, its bypassed and my ignition is relocated under my seat. Oh and Thanks for the info guys.

 

I had the same problem. Mine was that vacuum hose that goes from the map sensor on the lt side of the airbox (lt side if you are sitting on the bike). It had no vac hose attached so it threw a code. The hose runs from under the middle of the gas tank (not attached to the gas tank it T's off of another vac hose) to the map sensor.

if the throttle body's get gummed up from running cheap gas it can do that? don't know bout the light though? my shyt don't got no gauge's SO??

 

looks like you have an intermitent problem. your going to need to ride it until the light comes on and then perform the code retrieval. most honda shops have a honda diagnostic computer. i know for the f4i you have to have the test harness to run some peak output voltage tests.

 

I have the same problem on my 03 f4i the FI light just stays on yet the bike runs fine. I'm gonna try that procedure shown above and see if it takes away the light. But if you figure it out let me know. Thanks

Haha I almost said **** it and did that cause it gets on my nerves to much, but then if something was really wrong I'd have no easy way of troubleshooting it.

I just consider it more festive like its got extra lights on it.
